Meet Idelisse Sanchez

We were lucky to catch up with Idelisse Sanchez recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Idelisse with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

When people ask me where my work ethic comes from, the truth is — it comes from life. From growing up fast. From wanting better.

I’ve always been motivated by my work. I take pride in waking up early, making sure my space is ready, calm, and welcoming before my first client even steps through the door. I don’t cancel unless it’s a true emergency, because I believe being reliable is a way of showing respect — for myself, for my clients, and for the work I love.

But if I had to pinpoint where my drive really started, it was when I became pregnant at 17. That changed everything for me. Suddenly, it wasn’t just about me anymore — it was about setting an example. I wanted my daughters to see what was possible if you stayed focused, worked hard, and carried yourself with pride.

There was also a time when we struggled — really struggled. Being poor leaves a mark on you. I knew that the only way to build a better life was to show up, do more, and never let up. So that’s exactly what I did. Every day, every client, every moment was a chance to build the life I dreamed of for my family.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m a hairstylist who is passionate about creating more than just great hair — I create an experience. When a client sits in my chair, I want them to feel truly seen, cared for, and uplifted. It’s not just about the service; it’s about the feeling they leave with.

One thing I’m really proud of is the environment I’ve built. I believe a salon experience should be relaxing, welcoming, and positive. I pay attention to every detail — from the setup of my room to the personal energy I bring — because I want every person who walks through my door to feel special.

What excites me most about my work is the connection I get to build with people. Hair can be a very personal thing, and it’s a huge honor when someone trusts me with their confidence. It’s not just about a transformation on the outside — it’s about helping people feel like their best, most authentic selves.

Professionally, I’m focused on continuing to grow — not just in my technical skills, but also in the way I show up for my clients and my community. I’m committed to always learning, improving, and finding ways to offer even more to the people who trust me with their beauty journey.

At the heart of my brand is a simple belief: when you look good, you feel good — and when you feel good, you can take on the world. I’m here to support that in every way I can.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

If I had to sum it up, the three things that really shaped my journey are grit, consistency, and how you make people feel.

Grit is huge. Life is going to throw challenges at you — that’s a guarantee. You have to decide early on that you’re not going to quit just because it gets hard. If you really want it, you have to be willing to push through the hard days, not just the easy ones. My advice? Expect the tough moments and know you’re strong enough to get through them.

Consistency beats talent every time. You don’t have to be the most talented person in the room — you just have to be the one who shows up, ready to work, over and over again. Wake up early, stay prepared, keep your standards high even when no one’s watching. If you do that long enough, your results will speak for themselves.

How you make people feel is what leaves a lasting impression. Skills are important, but the way you treat people is what keeps them coming back. Always show up with kindness, professionalism, and pride in what you do. Never underestimate the power of making someone feel seen, heard, and valued.

For anyone just starting out: stay hungry, stay humble, and remember — your reputation is your biggest flex.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal client is someone who values self-care, professionalism, and good energy. They’re the type of person who appreciates the little things — a clean, welcoming environment, someone who listens to what they want, and an experience that feels personal, not rushed.

Character-wise, my ideal client is respectful, loyal, and open-minded. They trust my expertise but also aren’t afraid to communicate their needs. They show up on time, value the work I put into my craft, and see their hair appointments as an important part of their self-care, not just another chore.

Most importantly, they bring good vibes. I love working with people who are positive, kind, and understand that the beauty experience is a collaboration between client and stylist. We both bring something to the table — and when that energy matches, that’s when the real magic happens.
