Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ife Henderson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ife, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
I’ve always been an optimistic person—someone who believes that things will work out even when the path isn’t clear. I credit a lot of that to my upbringing. My mom, an entrepreneur, always encouraged me to believe in myself and never let her own fears become mine. That mindset shaped how I move through life, embracing change rather than fearing it.
One of the biggest leaps of faith I took was quitting my full-time job in Stockholm, Sweden, selling my apartment, and moving to the U.S. with just two bags. I had no apartment lined up, few friends, and no certainty about what would come next, but I trusted that opportunities would follow if I remained open to them. And they did—I found a job, built a career, and created a life here.
That same optimism carried me through some of the most challenging moments—starting a business during a pandemic, navigating fertility struggles, and welcoming my daughter, Zoë, 10 weeks early. There were moments of doubt, but I never let them outweigh my belief in what was possible. Optimism, to me, isn’t about always feeling positive—it’s about trusting that even in uncertainty, there’s always a way forward.
Now, as I grow Isle of Spice Sea Moss, I hold onto that same belief. Entrepreneurship, like life, has highs and lows, but I know that as long as I keep going, new doors will open—just as they always have.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I was born and raised in Sweden, but my journey has taken me across the world, eventually leading me to co-found Isle of Spice Sea Moss. After spending years in corporate fashion, I transitioned into entrepreneurship, inspired by time spent in the Caribbean and a passion for natural wellness.
When I first moved to New York, I was struck by how different the lifestyle was—everything was faster-paced, and eating out was much more common. At first, it was exciting, but after the novelty wore off, I realized I needed to be more intentional about maintaining my health. I grew up in a vegetarian household, and home-cooked, plant-based meals were the norm. Even as I adapted to life in the U.S., I always prioritized cooking most of my meals, leaning toward a balanced, mostly vegetarian-friendly diet.
Health has always been a core part of my life, and it’s something my mother, who is also my business partner, instilled in me early on. Today, she runs a vegan-friendly restaurant on Carriacou, where she sources vegetables and spices straight from her garden. That deep-rooted connection to food, wellness, and natural ingredients has always been part of who I am.
Isle of Spice Sea Moss was born during an extended stay in Carriacou, Grenada, during COVID. My husband and I had traveled there to visit my mother, but when the world shut down, we ended up staying for five months. During that time, I saw firsthand how fresh, wildcrafted sea moss had been used for generations as a natural superfood. We wanted to share that tradition with others, offering a product that is pure, sustainably sourced, and free from unnecessary processing or additives. Our sea moss is hand-harvested from waters with minimal pollution, sun-dried naturally, and packed with essential minerals that support overall health, from digestion to immunity and even skincare.
What excites me most is not just selling a product, but educating people on how sea moss can seamlessly fit into their lifestyle—whether it’s adding it to smoothies, using it in recipes, or even applying it to the skin for its nourishing benefits. We’re on a mission to make high-quality sea moss more accessible while staying true to the roots of this powerful superfood.
Right now, we’re focused on educating people about sea moss and sharing creative ways to incorporate it into daily routines. We’re also engaging more with our customers and exploring collaborations in the wellness space to bring greater awareness to the benefits of this powerful superfood. My goal is to continue growing Isle of Spice Sea Moss in an authentic way, ensuring more people can experience its incredible benefits.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Resilience – Whether it’s business or personal life, things rarely go as planned. The ability to adapt, learn, and keep moving is everything.
2. Trusting Yourself – There’s no roadmap for big life changes. You have to trust your instincts, even when things feel uncertain.
3. Community & Relationships – No one does this alone. Whether it’s family, friends, mentors, or customers, having a strong support system makes all the difference.
For anyone just starting out—don’t be afraid to ask for help, keep learning, and trust that the process is shaping you for what’s next.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
We’re always open to collaborating with like-minded individuals and brands in the wellness space. We’d love to partner with health and nutrition experts, wellness influencers, and creators who are passionate about natural superfoods and holistic health. Whether it’s through content collaborations, educational initiatives, or product features, we’re excited to work with those who share our vision.
While we love connecting with individuals who align with our mission, we also dream of one day seeing Isle of Spice Sea Moss on the shelves of a major retailer—one that values high-quality, ethically sourced, and minimally processed wellness products. Making our sea moss more accessible on a larger scale, while maintaining the integrity of how it’s sourced and produced, would be an incredible milestone for us.
