We recently connected with Ilana Armida and have shared our conversation below.
Ilana, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Ooh, it’s definitely an active battle. I think it’s natural for humans to feel like we aren’t good enough sometimes! It gives us the choice to either back away or be brave and keep growing. I’m always trying to evolve as an artist and songwriter, and I’ve learned that no one can be me better than I can. When I lean into what makes me me, that’s when I feel most confident. I remind myself that I’m only in competition with myself, and as long as I’m striving for authenticity, things tend to fall into place.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m Ilana Armida — a genre-bending artist, performer, and Grammy-nominated songwriter. My art lives at the intersection of empowerment, sensuality, and storytelling. I’ve always been fascinated by the duality of being a woman — soft and strong, sexy and powerful, vulnerable and in control — and that’s the heartbeat of everything I create.
My latest project, Armida, is more than just music; it’s a cinematic world that I’ve been building piece by piece through visuals, songs, and stories. It started with the Armida EP and music video, which introduced my alter ego — an enchantress who reclaims her power and challenges societal expectations of women. Then came Bleed, a sci-fi horror-inspired visual statement about women’s rights and bodily autonomy, and now Sticky, my newest music video, which leans into the femme fatale energy — dark, sexy, confident, and choreography-driven.
I just released Armida (Deluxe), which expands the project with two new songs and deepens the universe I’ve been creating. Every release is designed to feel like another chapter in a cinematic experience — a world where women’s complexity is celebrated, not contained.
Right now, I’m focused on continuing to expand that world — through music, visuals, and live experiences — while also writing for other artists. My goal is always to make people feel something real and to remind women that owning their power doesn’t make them “too much”; it makes them magic.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Well, first, I got my bachelor’s degree in Music Business with an emphasis in Vocal Studies. Even though the industry is constantly evolving, that foundation in business has really helped me. It put me in a position where I can be both the artist and the record label — I wear a lot of hats all the time, but I’m grateful for that knowledge because it’s allowed me to stay independent and creative on my own terms.
Second, I’d say my work ethic. I really believe that if you keep showing up, putting in the time, and chipping away at your goals, you can make anything happen for yourself. I’ve always had a lot going on at once — ever since I was little — so I got really good at multitasking and managing multiple creative projects at the same time.
And third, being thrown into the songwriting scene in LA made me a much stronger writer. I absolutely love collaborating — the songwriting process feels sacred and magical to me. Every session teaches you something new, and the more you do it, the better you get.
The best advice I ever got is the most generic and simple “Be yourself” … Take the time to go inward and figure out who you truly are and what sets your heart on fire and follow it and then put the time in to be the best you possible.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Always! I love great meetings of the minds! I am always looking to collaborate with artists, producers, musicians, dancers filmmakers I love to collaborate and be a part of something bigger than myself so if anyone wants to make some magic just reach out to me on instagram @ilanaArmida
