Meet Ileana Swanson

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ileana Swanson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Ileana, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?
I like to swim at least 3 times a week. When I am swimming, sometimes my mind keeps thinking about issues to take care of or my working list, but then my body starts to change my thoughts and I find myself in such a better place.

I also try to see friends, as often as I can. One on one with a friend for a coffee, a drink, lunch or a walk it’s so nice! I try to make it simple and accommodate other peoples schedules, 1 hour can be enough!!!

As a self-employed, I try my best on setting up work hours. This includes that on my free times (and weekends) I try not to see the business phone, emails, etc. It was very hard at the beginning but I have learned that if a customer or a prospect client calls during the weekend and I call/email back Monday morning they will be grateful!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I was new to this country and while looking for a job I read about all the waste disposable diapers create in our environment. I was pregnant with my first child and my nephew in New Orleans was born and was using a cloth diaper service there.

I remember how my mom used to wash my siblings diapers, it was fine, but a lot of work! I have never knew of a service that could to that. My husband remember friends of his have taken this route here in US.

We found out there was not a diaper service in Tucson at that time and since we decided to start one!

Then 5 years later we expanded to the Phoenix metro area.

During these 10 years we have been in business we see how the cloth diaper community is growing, and we are exited about the choices new parent are doing about diapering their babies.

Cloth diapers and using a diaper service is the most ecological way for diapering a baby. We are trilled to help on this and give families in Arizona a high quality but also friendly cloth diaper service.

As parents of young children, we see all the challenges families have and we want to support our clients as much as possible.

Choose cloth diapers today and help us to continue in this mission!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Good customer service. Be humble and understand all peoples perspectives and challenges and support their needs.

Time management. Helps me and my employees to do a good use of our time, make our process works and being able to have a quality service.

Economics. Running a small business is for sure a challenge, specially a service where there is not too much cash flow; but it is possible, just always pay attention to the numbers!

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
Our ideal client is someone that share the believe cloth diapers are the best for the baby and mother earth! Honestly, we are so happy our clients are in a full spectrum, because we believe cloth diapers should be the norm.

We have learned that disposable options or single use items are not to stay. As society we need to keep pushing on reusable items, reusable diapers!
