Meet Immanie Rogers

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Immanie Rogers a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Immanie with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My work ethic came from watching my mom overcome many challenges while being in the military. I learned so many traits from her by watching, hearing the compliments that she’d get for her hard work by her fellow soldiers, and even direct lessons she taught me.

I’ve learned overtime that I am a servant leader and a coaching leader and it has opened my eyes and shifted my thought process in such a way that I see how to better incorporate these skills, better myself, and my brand. To sum it up for those who may not be familiar with my leadership styles, a servant leader puts others first, has active listening, leads with integrity and courage, while providing clear visions/goals. A coaching leader focuses on the importance of feedback, accountability/responsibility, establishing strong communication and connections, and analyzing (I am very analytical).

These are defy myself in various way and it’s very intriguing to learn more about these leadership styles and how to use them to your advantage!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I began lashing three years ago and started off by being self taught. I wanted to learn how to do lashes for so long but never knew when or where to start.

One day, while being on maternity leave, I kept seeing how to videos, other women lashing on live in different social media platforms, and more posts about lashes than I normally would. I took it as a sign and bought my first kit online! After I became comfortable with doing the basics and learned more skills, I expanded my education to get properly licensed by doing that, so many doors opened for me that I had thought would take so long to get there.

After mastering the more complex side of lashing, I noticed I was no longer considered a lash tech, I am now a lash artist because of time and skill it takes to create the perfect look for my clients. I have also recently expanded my skills and brand by creating custom strip lashes as well!

I truly love making strip lashes because I can have my lash work shipped to anyone who cannot see me due to their location. There are so many women who live in other states or cities further away from me that do not have the ability to have their lashes done by me and this gave them the opportunity to still have it. I originally started doing strip lashes because I specialize in color lash extensions as well and this gave an opportunity for those who cannot commit to color lashes fully or want to try it out.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The most important qualities I have that help further my brand are confidence, integrity, and resilience. These are my most important qualities because I grew up on this and I looked at lashing that way because I have clients that trust me to close their eyes and do their lashes right!

The best advice that I would give to anyone considering on starting or a beginner, go in with confidence, ask questions, make your presence known in a room with others who have the skills, and find a good mentor and other women to form a genuine connection.

Most of the women in the industry try to find someone with the most followers on social media and assume they are the best, I thought that was the case and it affected me negatively. Just as little or as much as someone analyzes you, your social media, and your work, needs to immediately catch your attention on whether it’s a good fit for yourself. Picking up on clues like that and of course other clues will help you save a lot of time but put you in front of the right crowd in due time!

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

I have multiple areas of growth that I’ve experienced over the last twelve months. The first one was finding my circle of lash techs and lash artists from around the country and a few other countries as well! I put myself out there more and work and brand has been getting noticed more than I imagined. I also took a leap in learning on how to use color lashes and understanding color theory and that’s where I flourished the most with the right mentor!
