Meet India Blackshear

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to India Blackshear. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

India , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Growing up, I used to believe confidence and self-esteem were traits some people were just born with—and I wasn’t one of them. But over time, I learned that confidence isn’t something you’re given; it’s something you build. For me, it came from trying, learning, failing, and proving to myself—over and over again—that I’m capable of whatever I set my mind to. The more I showed up for myself, the more my confidence grew. It’s less about perfection and more about trusting your own resilience and competence.

A huge part of that journey has been through styling and creativity. Expressing myself through fashion allowed me to own my individuality and see myself in a new light. The more I’ve embraced my creativity, the more my confidence has grown.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m a fashion stylist specializing in everyday elevated looks for the modern working woman. Whether it’s curating personal style or creative directing full photoshoot productions, I love bringing bold, intentional style to life. Lately, I’ve been diving deeper into the editorial side of fashion—conceptualizing and styling shoots that tell a story through clothing, visuals, and mood.

What excites me most about this work is the creativity it requires. Styling, for me, is truly an art form—from developing a concept to selecting each piece and seeing it all come together. I recently completed a project where I creative directed an entire photoshoot—building the vision, styling the looks, finding the studio, and hand-selecting my team. The process pushed me in new ways and showed me how much joy there is in turning an idea into reality from start to finish.

Coming from a more classic corporate background, stepping into this creative space felt like unlocking a new side of myself. What makes it even more special is knowing that my work helps women feel beautiful and confident!

I’m excited to share that I’m in the process of officially launching my styling business and will be accepting clients very soon. It’s been a dream of mine to create a space where women can come together and feel safe to stepping into their confidence, and I can’t wait to help bring that vision to life through styling!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, I’d say my education in Sociology, Psychology, and Humanities has been one of the most impactful foundations in my journey. As an artist, I study the world around me and translate what I see and feel through my creative work. Having formal training in understanding human behavior, culture, and society allows me to approach styling and creative direction with much more depth—it’s never just about the clothes. Every photoshoot I lead will tell a story that is thoughtful, researched, and intentional, because that’s how I was trained to see the world.

As someone who is also early in my creative journey — if I could offer any advice, it would be this: double down on everything you feel called to explore, even if it doesn’t make sense right now. When I was in school, I remember being told that I might not find a career I enjoyed or get paid well for the work I do with degree I chose. And honestly, after graduation, I ended up working in industries that had nothing to do with what I studied. But here I am now—stepping away from the corporate world to pursue art—and finding that the knowledge I gained from my degree shows up in my creative work more than it ever did in any traditional job I’ve had.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal client is the modern-day working woman. After spending years in the corporate world myself, I truly understand the demands she faces—balancing work, personal life, and showing up confidently in every spaces. In many ways, she is me!

My ideal client wants her wardrobe to reflect both her professionalism and her personality.
My goal is to help women step into rooms fully aligned with who they are—confident, stylish, and most importantly themselves.
