Meet India Mitchell

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to India Mitchell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

India, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

My optimism comes from my faith and support system. Through every single setback I’ve experienced in the process of building this business I’ve always known that God would help me through to see a brighter day. My family, friends, and boyfriend have all made immense sacrifices to help support me through my darkest of times as well. On my worst days I’ve always had people to lean on, provide me with advice, and cheer me on. Between these two I have always found a reason to smile, keep trying, and continue to believe that my work will always pay off.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

At 20 years old I decided to drop out of college. I had no job, no money, and realized I didn’t want to be a nurse anymore. I had lost my way and couldn’t get away from the depression that was overtaking my life. One day while scrolling through Instagram I saw an ad for a cheap lash course and decided to spend my last bit of money to secure my spot. Little did I know that a 6 hour training course would change my entire life.

After taking my first lash class I spent every single day perfecting my craft. Following months of practicing on mannequins and family members I decided to open my business to the public. As my skill level increased I knew I had to procure my esthetics license if I wanted my business to continue to flourish. I enrolled in esthetics school and my clientele tripled as I added on all the new skills I was learning. After graduating and receiving my esthetics license I started working towards my next goal, obtaining a suite.

After months of searching, I found a small space in downtown Greenville. While it wasn’t my ideal suite, I made the most of it and turned it into the epitome of relaxation! My clients raved about my decor and lash styling. It was then that I felt like I had finally found my career. Over time I made upgrades to my space and services, searching out courses and new information to continue to provide the most luxurious experience I can for my clients. Being able to provide consistent excellent service to my growing clientele was a dream come true for me.

After a year I decided to upgrade my space and found the suite my business currently resides. After 4 years this journey has presented many challenges, but having the opportunity every day to bring smiles to my customers faces, enhance their beauty, encourage their growth, and bare witness to so many monumental moments in people’s lives gives my life purpose. I use my platform to inform, inspire, and heal those who trust me. I couldn’t ask for a better career!

My current service list includes lash extensions, full body waxing, brow services, skincare, and needle-less lip filler. I offer my own professional line of lash trays, Bare Beauty by SBBB, as well as retail products for lash extension aftercare and intimate skincare. For those interested in learning from me I offer one on one courses for expanding education in lash extensions, brow services, waxing, and needle-less lip filler. Feel free to reach out to me regarding booking services, purchasing products, or learning new skills!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I’d say the three most impactful qualities I had were my patience, attention to detail, and compassion for others. All three of these qualities are necessary for building a successful service based business. Without my ability to refrain from rushing, pay close attention to my clients requests/interests, and consistently showing kindness and understanding to those who support my business I would not be where I am today. For anyone who is starting their journey I recommend doing extensive research on customer service protocols, as well as being yourself (in a professional manner of course). Showing your personality will draw people to your business and having excellent customer service skills will absolutely make a first timer a loyal client!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I would love to collaborate with other professionals and/or brands! I’m completely open to collaborating with any type of business/entrepreneur especially skincare, cosmetic, and wellness businesses, models, makeup artists, nail techs, hairstylists, permanent makeup artists, content creators, clothing brands, and more! I’m open to any and all proposals. I also enjoy bartering so if you are a professional who also enjoys trading services I’m happy to engage with you! If you’re interested in collaborating or bartering feel free to reach out through DM or email.
