Meet Innoscent Malik

We recently connected with Innoscent Malik and have shared our conversation below.

Innoscent , so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My positive optimism comes from my mother. I’m 1st generation born in America to an immigrant from Pakistan. My mother always believed in hard work and education. Growing up in our home meant early mornings and late nights helping with the family business. I never understood the long hours my mom worked till I was in college. I graduated college in 2002 and used the same philosophy in the corporate environment.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
3 Years ago I almost died of covid. I was in the hospital and I was thinking about. What was going to happen when Covid cleared up. I knew all social events like weddings, birthday parties, graduations, and quinces had been put off. Once cleared I knew their was going to be a large wave of events happening. When I got out of ICU I immediately began looking for a photo booth company to invest in. I looked far and wide and I found Photo Booth International in Dallas, Texas. I knew this was the place for me because it was 2 minutes from my mothers home. I bought my 1st photo booth around December 2019. While waiting for my photo booth. I watch most of Josh’s YouTube videos while I was waiting on my photo booth. I got my photo booth around March 2020. My marketing and networking was going so good I was able to leave my job around May to focus on the business full time. In year one we surpassed over 100k and in year two was up 30%. My corporate background is in acquisitions and franchising.. I knew I wanted to scale my business buy not by buying more photo booths. After being on “Photo Booth Boss” a YouTube series Josh invited me on. I was know around the photo booth community. Upon completion of the show I realized their where other photo booth owners that needed coaching/mentoring. Instead of doing a 30 day coaching plan. I came up with an operating agreement with the owner to do business as Flash Party Photo Booth in their city. We not have 6 locations in Texas, 1 in San Jose, California, and Charlotte, North Carolina. My first operator Eric in the DFW market will be my first operator to exceed six figures this year. I get 1-2 calls a week from potential owners wanting to join my team. I’m excited everyday about the opportunity to help other operators run a successful photo booth business.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
One of my best skills that I is my attitude, my corporate work history, and failing in prior business ventures.

Having a great attitude in business is important because it affects how you approach challenges, interact with colleagues and customers, and ultimately impacts your success. A positive attitude can help you stay motivated, resilient, and adaptable in the face of setbacks. It can also help you build better relationships with others, which is crucial in business. Learning from prior failures is also important because it helps you avoid making the same mistakes again. By analyzing what went wrong, you can identify areas for improvement and make changes to your approach. This can help you become more efficient, effective, and successful in the long run. Additionally, learning from failures can help you develop a growth mindset, which is essential for innovation and progress in business.

Anyone looking for advice on their journey should invest in a mentor. You will avoid mistakes and early pitfalls! Always use Youtube to learn from other successful business owners and invest in continued education.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m looking for current photo booth owners who want to take their business to the next level. Even someone new to the photo booth business that wants to join a winning team. Were looking to partner with owners that have a great attitude and are coachable. Were looking to enter all major markets in the United States. You can connect with me directly by calling me at 512-924-2894 or [email protected]
