We recently connected with Ira Goodman and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ira, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I believe that working is a privilege and a valuable opportunity for those fortunate enough to have a job. Whether it’s within Corporate America or through owning a business—as I do now—my philosophy is that every job deserves full effort and commitment to excellence.
My work ethic is deeply influenced by my parents, who both worked diligently and always took pride in their accomplishments. At the end of each day, they reflected on what they had achieved, and their satisfaction with a job well done left a lasting impression on me. Their example taught me the importance of taking pride in your work and striving to do it right.
If you’re going to tackle a job, give it your best effort and ensure it’s done with care and dedication.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Strong Work Ethic
Impact: A consistent commitment to doing the job right shaped my reputation and built trust with clients and colleagues. Whether the task was small or monumental, giving it my best effort always paid off.
Advice: Cultivate discipline and pride in your work early on. Start each day with clear goals and take time to reflect on what you’ve accomplished—it reinforces a positive feedback loop that drives success.
2. Emotional Intelligence and Relationship Building
Impact: Understanding people’s needs and emotions allowed me to form meaningful connections. In real estate, this translated to truly listening to clients and building lasting relationships.
Advice: Practice active listening and empathy. Invest time in understanding others’ perspectives and priorities. These skills will help you navigate challenges, negotiate effectively, and create trust.
3. Adaptability and Continuous Learning
Impact: The ability to adapt to changing markets, technologies, and client needs ensured I stayed relevant and competitive.
Advice: Stay curious and open to learning. Read industry updates, attend workshops, and embrace new tools or methods. Growth often comes from stepping outside your comfort zone.
General Guidance:

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
As a realtor, I know the importance of proactive lead generation to maintain and grow my business. However, my biggest challenge has been consistently adhering to my time-blocked morning sessions for lead generation, specifically staying committed to the DTD2 program for systematically reaching out to contacts.
Strategies for Overcoming This Challenge:
Setting Clear Intentions: Each evening, I review the next day\u2019s schedule and write down my lead generation goals. Knowing what I need to accomplish helps me start my day with focus.
Minimizing Distractions: I turn off notifications and create a quiet, dedicated space for my morning sessions. This helps me stay in the zone.
Tracking Progress: I keep a simple log of my daily outreach to measure success and spot patterns in my productivity. Celebrating small wins keeps me motivated.
Mindset Shift: I remind myself that this activity isn’t just a task—it’s an investment in building relationships and growing my business. This perspective makes it easier to prioritize.
By implementing these strategies, I’m working towards greater consistency and ensuring that my mornings are as productive as possible. Would you like further help refining these ideas or creating a more actionable plan?
