Meet Irais Elizarraraz

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Irais Elizarraraz a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Irais, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience stems from being a product of immigrants. Seeing the ethics of hard work and selflessness through my parents instilled my motivation to become an entrepreneur and community leader. My mother has been an endless example of giving to others. Seeing that special quality as well as growing up with not so many resources has inspired me to always push forward. Before knowing what the word entrepreneur meant, I saw my dad in an unconventional way as he didn’t have a typical job. Years later realizing that he was a business owner with full freedom became inspirational. Having both kindness and grit while being a trailblazer is my combined recipe for my resilience.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the co-founder of Sin Título. We are a community building brand that curates mental health and networking events. Creating accessible resources to have conversations we didn’t have growing up has created a healing community. Continuing the conversations and advocating for representation, we also have an online apparel shop. Sin Título is a brand that allows anyone and everyone to come how they wish, whether it’s seeing themselves through our items or having our events be their healing outlet, we are here to listen, grow, and use our platform for togetherness.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Active listening is a skill I’ve enhanced as a business owner. Having my brand not only represent myself and my sister, it has to be representative of our consumers. Making sure we listen and grow with our community is essential in our identity. As Sin Título is a sister run brand, growing while also managing family dynamics has been a rewarding challenge of growth. Having a business, we still allow our voices to shine through. Not forgetting about the human aspect of a brand is our biggest advice that we’ve learned along our journey.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
With that news, I’d fully shift my energy into Sin Título. I currently also have a corporate career in marketing. I’d love to experience the brand fully with all my energy. Making that leap is crazy, but with only a decade to live, I’d make that jump without a doubt. This question really does put into perspective what keeps us from living our dream. After this, maybe I will become a full time CEO expanding and traveling for the business.
