We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Irina Mitsuk. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Irina below.

Hi Irina, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

Our journey to discovering our purpose is a story of transformation, resilience, and the power of following our passions. My sister Irina and I come from vastly different professional backgrounds—I am a digital experience designer, and Irina is a software developer. For many years, we both worked in the corporate world, striving to climb the career ladder and achieve conventional success. Yet, despite our achievements, there was a persistent sense of unfulfillment that neither of us could shake off.

The turning point came with the pandemic. Suddenly, we found ourselves with an abundance of time, which led to introspection and reevaluating our lives. It was during this period that we both realized how much joy and satisfaction we derived from something we had been doing casually for friends and family—flower arrangements and custom table settings for dinner events. This realization sparked a conversation that would change the course of our lives.

We decided to invest our time and resources into turning our shared passion into a business. What started as a family project, with enthusiastic support from friends and even former colleagues, quickly blossomed into something much more significant. It was incredible to see how much we could learn about the people in our lives when engaging with them in this new, creative setting.

Our business, Fine Art Florist, was born from our love and appreciation for fine arts, especially French impressionism. We draw inspiration from the works of masters like Matisse, Van Gogh, and Renoir. Our goal is to bring that same beauty and emotion to every bouquet and arrangement we create. Whether it’s a joyous occasion like an engagement or wedding, or a moment of solace, we believe that flowers have the power to touch hearts and bring comfort.

As we continue to grow and expand our skills and design perspectives, Fine Art Florist has garnered appreciation from people all over Los Angeles and San Diego counties, and our reach is extending beyond our local area. Our motto, “Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life,” has proven true. Every day, we are driven by our passion for making people happy and creating beautiful, memorable experiences through our floral designs.

Finding our purpose wasn’t about a sudden epiphany but rather a gradual realization that the things we loved doing in our free time could become the heart of our professional lives. We’ve learned that fulfillment comes from pursuing what you love, and we are grateful for every opportunity to share that love with others through our work at Fine Art Florist.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Currently, Fine Art Florist is focusing on collaborating with best-in-class wedding and event florists to expand our presence in the large-scale events market. This collaboration allows us to bring our distinctive artistic touch to grand weddings and significant events, ensuring that every detail is meticulously crafted and every moment is unforgettable.

We are also excited to announce the development of an exclusive custom subscription service for corporate and home deliveries. This service will provide our clients with regular, personalized floral arrangements that bring beauty and elegance to their spaces on a consistent basis.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three qualities and skills have been particularly impactful in our journey with Fine Art Florist: creativity, confidence, and perseverance.

Creativity: One of the most important things that set us apart in the floral industry is our ability to think outside the box when it comes to floral arrangements. We are not afraid to let our imaginations fly and offer non-mainstream floral designs that truly stand out. For those early in their journey, I advise embracing your unique creative vision and not being afraid to push boundaries. Experiment with different styles and ideas, and find your unique voice in your work.

Confidence: As cliché as it sounds, believing in yourself is crucial. Confidence in your abilities and your vision can propel you forward, even when faced with challenges. For anyone starting out, it’s important to cultivate self-belief and trust in your instincts. Take small steps to build your confidence, celebrate your successes, and learn from your failures without losing faith in your journey.

Perseverance: Taking one step at a time is vital for both your mental well-being and growing a business. Building something meaningful takes time, effort, and patience. For those at the beginning of their journey, I recommend focusing on steady progress rather than immediate perfection. Break down your goals into manageable tasks, stay resilient in the face of setbacks, and keep moving forward, one step at a time.

These qualities—creativity, confidence, and perseverance—have been essential in our success with Fine Art Florist. By developing and nurturing these skills, you can create a solid foundation for your journey and navigate the challenges with grace and determination.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

Surprisingly, many people came together to offer their help and expertise across various areas, and their support has been invaluable. From advice on business growth and finances to guidance on social media marketing, the collective input from friends, former colleagues, and industry experts played a crucial role in overcoming challenges and developing essential skills.

In the beginning, Irina and I had to wear many hats to ensure Fine Art Florist had a solid foundation. We quickly learned a lot about various aspects of running a business, and the support from our network made this process much smoother. Their insights and encouragement helped us navigate the complexities of starting and growing a business, and we are grateful for their contributions.

The collaborative spirit and willingness of others to share their knowledge have been instrumental in our success. We continue to learn and adapt, drawing on the diverse expertise of those who have supported us along the way.
