Meet Iryna Marchak

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Iryna Marchak. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Iryna, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

My name is Iryna MARCHak. I am a violinist/fiddle player from Ukraine.
My goal is to bring people joy and inspiration through music, to popularize Ukrainian culture and traditions.
I perform original music and violin covers in such genres as Ukrainian folk, country, rock, jazz, blues, pop and classic. I am a doctor ophthalmologist also. Music and medicine are my passions, through which I can be an instrument in the hands of God.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Iryna Marchak – Ukrainian violinist, musician.
1. I am an ophthalmologist by profession. I graduated from the O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University, Kyiv, Ukraine. I did my internship in the specialty “Ophthalmology” at the D.Halytsky National Medical University, Lviv, Ukraine.
2. I started going to music school at the age of 7, where I performed classical music on the violin for 10 years. Then I played for 4 years in the orchestra of the medical university.
3. I was in America under the “Work&Travel” program, where I met real cowboys and learned to play country music with them. I bought a violin in Nashville that is more than 100 years old! All subsequent recordings were made on it!
4. I performed as a street musician in Kyiv, Lviv, Prague, playing violin covers in the styles of rock, folk, pop, country, blues and jazz. It was a mega-cool experience!
5. I live in the USA now, developing my skills as a doctor and musician. Everything on my YouTube channel I record myself at my home studio MARCHAK.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Love, Hard Work, Faith.
Find thing that brings you joy.
Love what you do, make an effort every day to improve your knowledge, seek the will of God and believe in destiny.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

My parents helped me overcome difficulties, found a passion for music and medicine, taught me freedom and life values. In addition, my violin teacher helped me develop basic skills, discipline, hard work and musical knowledge. All these qualities helped me become the person I am today.
