We recently connected with Isabel Grijalva and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Isabel, so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?
There’s always going to be haters and naysayers in life. How I choose to persist is to take what they say and turn it into motivation and determination to say, ‘watch me,’ to show them that they’re wrong
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a Seattle, Washington-based content creator. I’m currently focused on posting more reels on Instagram that are relatable and fashionable, along with motivational videos. I love posting motivational reels because I know they have an impact on some people. I’m determined to help others go after their dreams and be their true authentic selves. I came up with my brand name knowing I wanted to be my true authentic self, not holding back, in hopes of inspiring others. I am currently working on some new collaborations behind the scenes that I can’t wait to share.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The qualities and skills that have been impactful on my journey of becoming a content creator are my natural abilities to yap, which always make for good conversation and content. The ability to yap helps with being able to entertain other people, and I found this skill particularly helpful. Another skill that helped me on my journey was having a background in content creation from running my account @maggie_plus_friends. Through that, I learned how to build a community and increase reach on social media. But the most important lesson I learned is that community is key; it can lead to lifelong friendships and new opportunities. I also find that the ability to be your true self helps make your content more valuable to viewers, allowing them to relate to different aspects of your content. One big piece of advice I have, whether you are early in your journey of content creation or wanting to start your journey, is to remember to foster engagement on your posts, work on building a community, and make friendships. But most importantly, have fun making content and doing what you love. I’ve found that if you’re not having fun, you’re more likely to get burnout, which is why the biggest piece of advice I can give is to have fun creating content.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
One of the most helpful people in my journey of content creation is @nomads_land_official. He has taught me to challenge the impossible, embrace any chaos that comes my way, and most importantly, to remember to laugh and have fun. He has also taught me about trying new things and has shared some tips and tricks he has learned. Kyle (@nomads_land_official) has been a big inspiration and role model, showing me and others to do what you love. Even if the odds aren’t in your favor, you can always defy the odds time and time again.
