We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Isabel rivera Party planner/entrepreneur . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Isabel rivera below.
Isabel rivera, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Coming from an unstable childhood and choosing to not become another statistic. I have faced many challenges throughout my life but have still accomplished many goals and dreams like acting and buying a one one ticket to new York after selling everything I had and arriving a couple days before 911 not knowing anyone and paving the way for my future. Also after my divorce whenever my back was against the wall I somehow always had to courage and survival skills to fight my way through and succeed.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
This last year has been the hardest year of my life navigating through a divorce and trying to figure out how to be a single mom when my world was turned upside down. Through this I found the motivation to start my flower business and party planning business so I can leave something behind for my son. I basically built it from the ground up and 7 months later I have repeat customers and a network of other women who inspire me and challenge me everyday to be better. I have only an Instagram but have already secured amazing clients . Isabel grace events is not just a business it will help to employ women and young professionals who want to learn from the ground up just like I did. I want it to be not only something to leave to my son but also something that will help future generations believe that if you try hard enough you can make success happen. Even in the face of adversity
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Resilience Perseverance
Faith
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest area of growth has been being not afraid of failure and challenges. I have had to learn on the go and learn to handle things as a business woman.
Much like in life things don’t always work out the way you plan in business but if you are not able to adapt and have open communication then you will not learn in the future. Also being honest with myself in what I can handle and being able to respectfully say no.
As a small business you have to know your value and it’s ok to say no to a client if you think your services and products are not being valued . Whenever I out my name on something I take pride in not only the final product but the process and the way I interact with everyone from the beginning to the end of the job
