Hi Isabella, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes from my determination to be successful. Whenever I am given a project, I know there will be obstacles, but I never doubt that I will reach my goal. That said, having a strong work ethic is not always easy. It requires self-discipline and perseverance. You also have to know your limitations and remember that balance is important. For example, this past year, I learned the importance of protecting my vocal health. I had rehearsed so much for a show that I ended up losing my voice. When you work so hard, it can be difficult to avoid burnout.
Nonetheless, a strong work ethic is essential for success. When writing a new song, I visualize the finished product. Although it can take months or years before a piece is finalized, I embrace the creative journey and its challenges until it all finally comes together.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a singer-songwriter, performer, and producer from Tampa, Florida. I have always had a growing love for the Arts. I enjoy performing on stage and in local venues, as well as producing my own Pop tracks. But above all, my favorite thing to do is sit behind my piano or guitar and write original songs.
I have been songwriting since I was about eight years old. My journey as an independent artist began when I graduated eighth grade. My parents surprised me with an Akai MPK Mini MIDI controller, and the rest was history! I taught myself how to produce my own music and quickly picked up on the skill. It wasn’t long before I transformed my room into a home studio where I write, produce, and record music and vocals for my very own compositions. As an adult, it has become clear that music and songwriting are my life-long passions.
I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to connect with others through my songs, especially in live settings. It is so empowering when an audience sings along with me or bops their head to the beat.
Currently, I am continuing to work on music. I have new ideas every day. If you know me, you’ve likely seen me pull out my phone and record a Voice Memo when I’m out in public. I never want to forget any lyrics or melodies because you never know what a single idea can turn into down the road! So many of my songs – both released and unreleased – began with a simple vocal line. Some of them were written in one sitting, while others have evolved over the span of several years. While it can be challenging at times, songwriting is my absolute favorite activity. It constantly challenges me to grow as a lyricist, producer, and artist.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Some words of advice that have been most impactful in my journey are: do your research, be open to feedback and constructive criticism, and collaborate.
Most of what I know about producing music has been self-taught. I started by clicking around on my digital audio workstation (DAW). I utilized my resources and watched countless YouTube videos and tutorials. It took a lot of practice and many late nights, but it was worth it. Thinking back, I am thankful that I took a chance at something completely new to me. Several years later, I have written and produced every song in my repertoire.
Something I have learned through my career as an artist is that you should be open to constructive criticism while also protecting your original ideas and visions. Remember to own your creative work and believe in your ideas. Never let anyone minimize your potential.
I am so grateful for the learning opportunities I have had while working with others in the industry. I have collaborated with other engineers and have performed with other writers and recording artists. Social media has allowed me to connect with other talented artists. Collaboration allows ideas to come together, bringing new art to life.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
I usually turn to music when I’m overwhelmed. This could mean writing a song or listening to a playlist of my favorite tunes. Sometimes, I turn off my phone and read a book. Other times, I lose myself in a Netflix show. Going to the gym also helps me relieve stress. Life can get overwhelming; it happens to all of us. It can be helpful to identify healthy habits and coping strategies that work for you when overcoming hard feelings and difficult times. Our phone addictions can also be quite a distraction in our busy lives. Sometimes you just have to shut that phone off!
