We were lucky to catch up with Isabella Harris recently and have shared our conversation below.
Isabella, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
My journey to discovering my true purpose wasn’t immediate, but it was transformative. I began my career in Social Work, driven by a passion for helping others, but deep down, I felt there was more to my story. In 2018, I found yoga during a challenging time in my life, and it became my anchor. Yoga wasn’t just a physical practice—it gave me strength, clarity, and mental peace during struggles with my mental health. As I deepened my practice, I also discovered Pilates, and together, they became a powerful way to nurture both body and mind.
This journey sparked the idea of opening my own studio, where I could share the healing power of yoga and Pilates with others. I wanted to create a space that not only strengthened the body but also offered a sense of balance and peace for the mind. My passion for both practices led me to my true calling: guiding others on their own path to strength, healing, and self-discovery.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m the proud owner of a yoga and Pilates studio that I’ve built from the ground up. My journey to this point has been deeply personal, as I found my passion for both practices during a challenging period in my life. Yoga and Pilates became the tools that helped me regain strength, clarity, and balance—physically and mentally. These practices transformed my life, and now, I’m dedicated to sharing that transformation with others.
What excites me most about my studio is the community we’ve built. It’s not just about the classes—it’s about creating a space where people can come together, heal, and grow, no matter where they are on their wellness journey. We focus on the mind-body connection, offering a sanctuary for people to reconnect with themselves. The most rewarding part is seeing our members discover their own strength, overcome obstacles, and find peace through their practice.
Right now, we’re focusing on expanding our community engagement. We’re finding more ways to offer community events and offer affordable fitness options for everyone. We want to make wellness accessible to all, so we’re introducing donation-based classes and exploring partnerships that allow us to give back and provide efficient, cost-effective ways for our community to stay healthy and connected. It’s an exciting time as we continue to grow and evolve, and we’re thrilled to share more with our community as we move forward!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, there are three qualities that I believe were most impactful in my journey: resilience, a deep sense of empathy, and the ability to stay open to learning.
Resilience has been essential. Starting my own business required navigating a lot of uncertainty and overcoming obstacles, from financial challenges to self-doubt. The ability to stay persistent in the face of adversity kept me going when things got tough. For anyone early in their journey, my advice is to embrace setbacks as opportunities for growth. Resilience isn’t about avoiding failure, but about learning from it and using it to fuel your progress.
Empathy has been another key factor. Whether in my work in Social Work or in opening my studio, understanding and connecting with people has been vital. Being able to truly listen to others and respond with compassion helps build trust, which is the foundation for any business or community. If you’re just starting out, take the time to genuinely understand your audience or community. Building strong, authentic relationships will pay off in ways you can’t predict.
Lastly, staying open to learning has been crucial. There’s always something new to discover, whether it’s a new yoga technique, business strategy, or approach to helping others. By staying curious and open to new experiences, I’ve been able to keep evolving and improving. For those just starting out, don’t be afraid to ask questions, seek advice, and be willing to adapt. The willingness to learn and grow is what will ultimately keep you moving forward.
So, my advice is simple: stay resilient, practice empathy, and never stop learning. Each of these qualities will help you not only navigate challenges but also create something meaningful and lasting.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
In the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth has been in building my self-confidence and learning to embrace self-love while stepping into the role of a business owner. The transition from being a practitioner and a community member to becoming a “boss” has been both empowering and humbling. I’ve had to learn to trust myself more, make tough decisions, and lead with both strength and compassion. There were moments of doubt, questioning if I was doing enough or if I was making the right choices, but over time, I’ve learned that self-doubt is a natural part of growth. It’s about trusting the process and being kind to yourself through the ups and downs.
In particular, I’ve realized that as a business owner, my well-being directly impacts the well-being of the studio and the people in it. I’ve had to put boundaries in place, take time for myself, and prioritize my mental and emotional health. This was a huge shift for me, as I had always been the person who gave everything to others. But I’ve come to understand that when I nurture my own self-confidence and practice self-love, it creates a ripple effect that benefits everyone around me.
For anyone early in their journey, I’d say it’s essential to develop this balance. Confidence comes from consistent action and learning to celebrate the small wins. And don’t forget to show yourself the same love and kindness you give to others—you’ll be amazed at how much more you’re able to give when you take care of yourself first.
