Isai , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

Confidence can be a tricky concept; I believe that there is a fine line between being confident and being arrogant. It’s important to know the difference and to manage those differences. In my personal case, confidence means trusting the process and keeping your expectations open. Knowing that something can go wrong prepares you to be ready in case you need to act in the moment. Being aware of your surroundings can help you feel confident.

For me, self-esteem is about accepting the present as it is and managing to deal with it. Looking at the bright side of things can help, but it’s also important to understand the value of the situation as it comes.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Hi there, I’m Isai Rodriguez, and I’m an artist. I play several instruments, paint, and love to create original music and art pieces. I’m currently playing drums with other musicians and trying to grow in the music industry. I’m based in Dallas, TX, originally from Monterrey, NL, Mexico. I’m bilingual, in my early 40s, have 2 kids, and a wonderful Puerto Rican wife.
I have been playing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for a while, and I’m ready to expand my talents. I play with Avae, The Elevations, and others.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

It’s not easy. Being able to start a project and navigate all the challenges along the way is harder than it sounds. In Mexico, there is a phrase that states, “no es lo mismo hablar del diablo que verlo venir,” which means it’s not the same to talk about it as it is to do it. If your project is becoming complicated, maybe it’s time to reconsider. Sometimes you have to start over to understand better and achieve better results. Persistence is key.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I’m constantly looking for musical collaborations. As a drummer, I have a variety of options, and as an artist, I can help create a new project or assist in the growth of others. I work well with other artists, and I try my best to understand their passion and match their style while adding mine in the process.
