We recently connected with Isaiah Seward and have shared our conversation below.
Isaiah, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I think everyone suffers from imposter syndrome at one point or another and I’m not an exception. There were friends and colleagues that helped steer me away from that type of thinking. But ultimately, it was the belief that everything happens for a reason that helped the most. If everything happens for a reason then it means I’m supposed to be here and I belong. The work, preparation, and time spent all prepare you to be places you’d never think you’d be and your job is to accept it gracefully and gratefully. Understanding that you deserve it but keeping yourself grounded is the key.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m an actor, musician, and co-founder of Blue 82 Productions where we produce films, series, and other content. We just finished post production on another episode of the You Follow Me series and the finishing touches are being put on the new season of 10 Minutes. A lot of the art we create has a concept that’s bigger than the art itself and serves a purpose to impact the world around us without sacrificing artistic integrity. I started out as a musician and it’s definitely been helpful because that has allowed me to compose for films and series with already existing music and music specifically made for the score of a few projects like The Bastard Sons, You Follow Me, etc. It has evolved from a passion of mine into a lifestyle and a career. That’s why it stays exciting and new. Plus being able to work with and inspire younger professionals coming up is even more of a bonus.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Keeping an open mind and understanding that there’s a lot to learn is one of the things that has impacted my journey the most. It allows you to be open to learning without an ego and that’s definitely easier said than done but necessary. Another piece of advice is to work just as hard when no one is looking. Just being ready and out working the field has gotten me a lot of the successes that have come. And the last thing would be to surround yourself with people who are headed where you want to go. That could be a professional, spiritual, ethical, physical fitness goal, or any goal.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
The entertainment industry is all about collaboration and I’m always looking for other talented people to work with. Anyone that would like to talk about collaborating can contact me via email at [email protected] for the film and tv production side of things, or if it’s music related at [email protected]. I just want to meet interesting people with a strong work ethic and great ideas. The rest usually takes care of itself.
