We recently connected with Iva Jelinić and have shared our conversation below.
Iva , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Well, actually, interior design wasn’t my first choice of profession in my life. I have always had a love for design, but I never managed to gather the courage to start design school. The first university I graduated from was in the health sector. I graduated in radiology technology. I can’t say that I don’t like this profession, I really like it too, but design is what I actually found my purpose in.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My professional story started a few years ago. I only worked in my healthcare job for two years and decided it was time for a change. I enrolled in a design school and I’m sure I didn’t make a mistake. the job of an interior designer is, I won’t lie, quite demanding, but it is also the fulfillment of my dreams. Even as a child, I was constantly redecorating my room. I loved flipping through furniture catalogs and fantasized about this job. And look where I am today. I recently opened my business Instagram profile @studioindiva where I plan to build a really high-quality and good business with a lot of interesting content on social networks. It will be very interesting, I’m really looking forward to it. I would call my favorite interior style modern, characterized by clean lines, monochromatic colors, minimalism and lots of natural light.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I am a person who has had low self-esteem for a long time and I am also a perfectionist. It is very difficult to break away from such qualities, but the longer I have been in business and in contact with my truly wonderful clients, my confidence has increased, but my perfectionism has remained. It’s just that I no longer consider it a problem, but a positive feature that is really needed in my work as a designer. I would say that self-confidence, continuous learning and a clearly defined goals are the keys to success.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
I am aware that no one is perfect, especially not me, and I don’t expect my clients to be either. It is desirable that clients trust me in what I do. And of course, that they are patient because we all know how exhausting periods of adaptation can be. I would say that this is the most important thing for successful cooperation. On the other hand, I really try to be reasonable and accommodating in whatever sense that is possible.
