We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ivan Romero. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ivan below.
Ivan , we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
it comes from other chefs who passed with me their knowledge with patience and showed me all the skills they knew , one chef in particular “chef Ivan Garcia ” who used to feed the homeless after every shift and showed me to pass the skills to other cooks.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am the founder and director of Rosemary Hospitality Group in which we offer catering and mixology services focused on WOW presentation of the food and drinks , event production , restaurant consulting and staff training , right now I am working with two non profit organizations :
the village community foundation where we find and support local emerging chefs and help them with business and kitchen training to start their own business, in 2024 5 chefs have started their own catering or food business.
the second one is Building One Community where an eight week class gives participants a serve safe certificate and enough skills to get a better chance to apply for restaurant positions and earn more money to support their families.
On the event production side we organize all kind of events from street carnivals to weddings .
Our newest project is The Morning Rave – a morning party in the weekends starting with a fitness, yoga, cardio, cooking, dancing or meditation class followed by a party with live DJ music and healthy food.
The goal is to create a community focussed on body and mind wellness who likes to party without alcohol and loosing sleep.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
resilience – never gave up even when other chefs or cooks laugh at me for not having good knives , don’t give up no matter what other think , it’s your dream not theirs.
organization – I have OCD which can be exhausting but also helped me be more organized, efficient and achieve goals faster than most of people. you can always use your problems as opportunities to grow.
speed – is not about just work fast but do the things right so you don’t waste time doing it over and over, although the first times you will not get it right the more you do it the better you become and the more projects you can achieve.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
First my family , they are my motivation and my strength , the people who has taken the time to teach me and guide me and the friends who support and believe in me .
