Meet Ivonne Gonzales

We recently connected with Ivonne Gonzales and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ivonne, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
Looking back, I lived with many anxieties and fears about whatever was coming next in my life. Now that I am older and see how even the hardest moments have worked out, I have learned that as long as my life is in proper alignment with my passion and purpose – it will always work out! The bumps in the road are just learning opportunities and make us more resilient to the more beautiful things life has in store for us.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy and my practice is Mind Body Physiotherapy. I treat general orthopedics and focus on treating Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMD) and migraines. The most notable thing about my practice is that it was created to be a compassionate place where those who have suffered from chronic pain can come and share their stories without feeling dismissed as many do in our broken healthcare system. We like to work collaboratively with other disciplines and are currently looking to meet other like-minded providers such as dentists and optometrists to help our patients get the most optimal results from their PT treatment.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities that have been the most impactful in my journey are integrity, trust, and balance. I based Mind Body Physiotherapy’s core values around these. We must always do the right thing, every time and hold ourselves accountable for our actions. Building and keeping trust is crucial in order to live in peace with ourselves and others. Balance can be attained by creating goals and setting a list of priorities, then marking each one of those things on that list one at a time (either on your own or with someone’s help). By embodying integrity, building trust, and maintaining balance, individuals can establish themselves as credible and trustworthy human beings, forge meaningful relationships, sustaining their professionalism while safeguarding their well-being.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I feel overwhelmed, I make a list of those things overwhelming me. For me, there is something about putting my worries down on a piece of paper. After executing one thing, marking things off provides a huge sense of accomplishment that things become less overwhelming. Most recently I have learned to ask for help and also say no to certain things that I know are not aligning with my purpose, and allow myself a lot of grace. It is okay to take some time to call a girlfriend and vent, watch TV, or take an evening off. This is something I had to learn to be okay with and not be too hard on myself for needing it.
