We were lucky to catch up with Iyesha Gee recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Iyesha , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
When asked where I draw my resilience from, I reflect on my journey as a now 40 plus, Black mother who has faced profound challenges. I grew up without the presence of my parents, raised instead by my grandparents, the streets, and at times, the system. Much of my life required me to stand on my own two feet, and I often had to figure out how to survive and move forward without guidance.
Over the years, I have endured the painful reality of losing many of the people I loved most—family members, mentors, and love interests. Each loss left a deep imprint, but also taught me to keep moving, to find strength in the lessons learned, and to pour that strength into raising my child, who is now grown.
My resilience comes from this lived experience—knowing that even in the absence of support, even when life felt unforgiving, I found a way to keep going. It comes from understanding that pain can either break you or build you, and I chose to let it build me. It also comes from a deep sense of responsibility to break cycles, to stand as an example of perseverance, and to create opportunities where once there were none.
Ultimately, my resilience is not just about survival—it is about transforming struggle into strength, loss into motivation, and loneliness into independence. That is what has shaped me into who I am today.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Professionally, I’ve built Higher Vibes Online, a wellness-based platform dedicated to overall health, wellness, and spiritual growth. Under this umbrella, I’ve also created Her Vibes, which highlights women’s voices and shared experiences, and my alter ego Ms. Igee, a creative expression of my personality, resilience, and artistry. Together, these brands are about creating safe spaces for wellness, celebration, and transformation.
What excites me most is bringing people together—whether through workshops, events, or online platforms—to create opportunities for healing, networking, and growth. I believe that when we share stories and resources, we empower not just ourselves, but entire communities. My work isn’t about becoming an actress or pursuing fame, but rather about using media as a tool for PR, storytelling, and collaboration with companies and individuals who want to expand their impact.
Looking ahead, I have a major upcoming event on November 7th, 2025 in Berkeley, CA. This event will focus on etiquette, self love and self care and we are currently seeking talent, vendors, and sponsors who align with those values. Tickets are on sale now, and we would love the community’s support to make this gathering a success.
Ultimately, my goal is to continue planning meaningful events for companies, collaborating with other brands, and using my platforms to connect people in ways that uplift, inspire, and expand possibilities.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, adaptability, and vision.
• Resilience has been the foundation of everything I do. Growing up without parents, raised by my grandparents, the streets, and the system, I learned early that setbacks don’t have to define you. Resilience taught me how to keep going when life tried to stop me.
• Adaptability has also been essential. Life rarely goes according to plan, and being a single mother while building businesses meant I had to constantly adjust, reinvent myself, and find new ways forward. That flexibility opened doors I never imagined.
• Vision has guided me. Even in difficult moments, I could see a bigger picture for my life and my work. That vision led to creating Higher Vibes Online, Her Vibes, and my alter ego brand Ms. Igee, all rooted in wellness, empowerment, and creativity.
For anyone early in their journey, my advice is this:
• Build resilience by embracing challenges instead of running from them—each obstacle can be a lesson.
• Practice adaptability by staying open to change and not being afraid to pivot when life calls for it.
• Develop vision by taking time to dream bigger than your current circumstances and writing down what you want your future to look like.
These three qualities together not only carried me through personal struggles but also helped me build platforms that inspire others.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes, I am absolutely looking to partner and collaborate with others. My work through Higher Vibes Online, Her Vibes, and my creative alter ego Ms. Igee is rooted in community, and I strongly believe collaboration is the key to growth. I’m especially interested in connecting with individuals, businesses, and organizations that align with wellness, mental health, spirituality, women’s empowerment, creativity, and community development.
This could include talent, vendors, and sponsors for events, as well as media outlets, wellness practitioners, and other brands who are looking to expand their reach while contributing to meaningful, uplifting experiences. I’m also open to collaborations that bring fresh ideas to workshops, event planning, or digital storytelling.
If you’re interested in collaborating, I’d love to hear from you. You can reach me directly at [email protected]. Together, we can create events and platforms that not only inspire but also support the collective wellness of our communities.
