Meet J Le’anthony

We were lucky to catch up with J Le’anthony recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi J , appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?

The need for discipline stems from the environment I see myself in. The background of where I come from is truly humbling. Therefore, I often find myself relentlessly trying to level up and move forward in every single category. I’m no stranger to hard work. I strive for perfection and knowing I won’t ever get to perfection is fine with me. From the mouth of the late Kobe Bryant himself, “the goal is to be as perfect as you can be”. Consistency is key. No matter how I’m feeling I have to go out and grind every single day!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My name is Joshua Chaney. I go by J Le’Anthony. I’m an Atlanta based musician. I make music and films. I’m heavily invested in my music career as of right now. I’m currently 23 years old and I’m working more and more each day to accomplish my dreams and see them become and reality. The way I meditate on it now is the more people who know about me the more people will know about God. I have no doubt in my mind I will reach a higher height in my life one day for everyone to show me love and appreciation. I will then tell them “Thank you but all the praise goes to the Most High, God and our Lord and savior Jesus Christ”. I have dropped numerous freestyles on my social media platforms and I have also made a EP that was released August 29, 2024. It is titled “(IN)Vironment”. It features 2 amazing Atlanta based artists, Rennyonthe1 and Noa, and engineered, mixed, and mastered by yours truly with the help of Rennyonthe1.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

My three best skills I had, currently have, and will continue to progress with in the future are giving gratitude, socializing, and discipline. I’d say anyone who first starting anything whether your a musician, actor, writer, photographer, or even a doctor the first thing you need to do is be grateful for what you have. Not everyone is blessed to see another day on earth and the fact that a person is drawing breath makes them blessed. I’d say be thankful for what you have first and foremost. If a person struggles with talking to people I’d say start small. Interact with people who you know on a one on one basis. Then work your way to individuals who you want to interact with, who have a great spirits and people who want to see you win. Your energy isn’t meant for everyone and that’s okay. Last and absolutely not least I would say for a person who wants to become disciplined is know that with hard work takes time and sacrifice. The days you or a person doesn’t feel like doing something those are the most pivotal days that you need to do it. Discipline sucks, yes, but it makes you into the person you want to be for yourself.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

My challenge that I’m currently facing with is simply staying consistent. Some days I love working out, eating healthy, and making music. Other days I don’t feel like doing NATHAN! But I think about it like this, “if nobody else is going to do it for me, who will?”. God don’t make no mistakes and the way he positioned me in my life is a blessing but it also comes with advisory and making sure when hard times come it will feel like a breeze brushing me against the face.
