Meet Ja-Rey Miller

We recently connected with Ja-Rey Miller and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ja-Rey, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
I want to take a moment to recognize and honor the incredible achievements of Black entrepreneurs across this nation like myself. My perseverance, creativity, and determination are an inspiration to my community. Being the only one in the room that looks like me is always a huge advantage being a young entrepreneur my appearance is more appealing my bright hair color alone makes me stand out in any room i walk in so with that being said all eyes are already on being so i have to show up and do my best put any fears or doubts i have behind me hold my head high and face everything in a very confident professional manner and take things head on and give it my best shot ,Being in my profession you dont see to many licensed male hair cosmetologist.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My main focus on my business , is to explore and expand globally pouring into not only my clients but also my community as well as my social media followers and viewers allowing them to have the same experience with me regardless rather its in person or through a screen i want to connect with everyone on the same level. Every year i participate in a nonprofit event called “LaceLand” hosted by Damienne Flagler , we give out over 100 free gift bags, 100 free wigs ,100 free hair services and much more we offer vendor tables and opportunities to expand your business and brand too hundreds and thousands of people.
Im am also an actor me and most of my work ha been featured on major platforms that you guys would be able to watch and view very soon

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My three qualities were three small words “never, give, up” no matter what obstacles i faced of bumps in the road i encountered i never gave up i always kept going the , life isn’t easy and you’re going to encounter challenges on your journey but it isn’t about what your going through its all about how you come out of it always face things head on in a positive manner and you’ll always win

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
my biggest challenge right now is staying consistent Devine timing is a real thing and you have to understand that everything isn’t going to come to you when you want it you have to have the same hustle and drive at all times
