We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jace Preme. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jace below.
Hi Jace, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from a lot of places, but the biggest influence has always been my mom. Growing up, we went through hard times, but she never let me feel it. I didn’t even realize we were struggling until I got older, because she always found a way to make things work. I watched her go from working temp jobs to putting herself through law school and becoming a full-time lawyer. Seeing that transformation taught me that persistence can truly rewrite your story.
A big part of my drive also comes from my neurodivergence. When I focus on something, I tend to hyper-fixate until I’ve mastered it; it’s just how I’m wired. That intense focus, paired with my competitive nature, pushes me to constantly improve. I’ve been blessed with natural talent, but it’s that obsession with growth and consistency that really shapes who I am.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
At my core, I’m an artist, a songwriter, singer, and performer before anything else. Music has always been the way I’ve processed life, and over time it’s evolved into my purpose. Today, I’m the founder of **Preme Music Group (PMG), a nonprofit record label* dedicated to investing in Detroit’s talent and **PMG Studios**, our own recording and content creation space that we officially secured in September 2025.
I founded PMG in March 2025 with one simple mission: to give artists the kind of support I wished existed when I was coming up. We don’t charge our artists, and we don’t ask for anything in return. Every artist we sign receives access to free studio time, booking support, consulting, cover art, photo shoots, media production, rollout planning, playlist outreach, and opportunities to perform at our partner events. We back them completely, no strings attached.
We’ve now grown to a roster of **13 artists**, all managed and supported under the PMG umbrella. Our first signee, *Kid Prodigee, was just 18 when we met him. Seeing his raw talent and lack of a team inspired us to build the label from the ground up. From there, we’ve expanded to serve a full collective of rising Detroit artists who represent the next wave of sound and creativity in the city.
Alongside the label, **PMG Studios** operates as a creative hub, not just for our roster but for independent artists, creatives, and brands across Detroit. It’s a space designed to make professional-quality creation accessible, whether it’s recording, filming, or building content.
We also produce monthly events that promote creativity, community, and art. Our live podcast and showcase series, “Trauma Bonding” , created in collaboration with one of the podcasts i produce, “Surviving No Contact”, is filmed every first Friday at House of Dreams 313, Detroit’s #1 content creation house. It’s an intimate space where storytelling meets live music, and it’s quickly becoming one of our most impactful recurring events.
Another major focus is our upcoming **NOVA Showcase**, in collaboration with Biancé Badd, now reintroducing herself as Nova Chanel. This event marks her rebrand and serves as the next flagship experience under PMG’s growing event division.
Right now, PMG has reached full capacity for the artists we can serve at once. Our goal moving forward is to secure donations and funding so we can continue signing and supporting more talent and eventually, pay our artists directly for performances, projects, and community work.
For anyone who believes in creativity, independence, and the power of Detroit’s art scene, PMG represents a movement, one built on access, integrity, and the idea that artists deserve real backing without exploitation.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The number one skill that’s carried me through every stage of my journey is resourcefulness. As an entrepreneur and creative, you have to learn to see obstacles as invitations to innovate. People with a victim mentality stop at the wall; resourceful people build a door through it. I’ve learned that resourcefulness starts with mindset, you can’t find solutions if you’re convinced there aren’t any. Developing it takes self-awareness, humility, and mental strength. When you stop saying “I can’t” and start asking “how can I,” your entire life starts to move differently.
The second skill is sales ability, not in the traditional sense of pushing or convincing people, but in the deeper sense of communication and understanding. Sales is really about education and connection. Whether you’re an artist, an entrepreneur, or a creative, you’re always selling something — your story, your vision, your energy. Learning sales taught me how to position ideas, how to listen, and how to speak with clarity and purpose. The best way to develop it is to get the reps in: practice talking about what you do, share your offers, and learn from real conversations. Over time, that fear fades and confidence builds.
The third and most important quality is faith — specifically faith in God. My faith gives meaning to the setbacks, because I’ve learned that everything that looks like a no is preparing you for a bigger yes. Faith keeps you consistent, grounded, and aligned with your purpose even when results are slow.
If I could give one piece of advice to anyone early in their journey, it’s this: strengthen your resourcefulness by becoming a problem-solver, sharpen your sales skills by learning to communicate with care and conviction, and deepen your faith so you never lose sight of why you started. Those three things will carry you further than any degree or connection ever could.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
The past year has been the hardest and most transformative season of my life. In September 2025, I was living out of my BMW, just a year after having my first six-figure month. Within months, everything collapsed: my businesses, my marriage, my mental health. I had nothing to my name and had to rebuild from the ground up, physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Looking back, the biggest area of growth for me has been discipline, faith, and mental strength. I’ve learned to stay centered no matter what’s happening around me. I’ve faced betrayal, loss, and people trying to take advantage of me, but I no longer let pain pull me out of alignment. I used to react to everything — now I’ve learned that not every action deserves a reaction. Sometimes silence and consistency are the most powerful responses you can give.
That shift has changed everything. My resilience is higher, my faith is stronger, and my work ethic is deeper because of it. I truly believe that the stronger your faith becomes, the harder you’re willing to work. When you believe in what you’re building — and that God is with you — failure doesn’t scare you anymore. You realize that even when you fall, you’re falling forward.
