Meet Jacinda/Apple Rose

We recently connected with Jacinda/Apple Rose and have shared our conversation below.

Jacinda/Apple, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

Honestly, this might sound cliché, but waxing really chose me I didn’t choose it. I had no interest in waxing at first; I just wanted to learn a skill. Back in 2022, while I was still working my 9–5, I decided to take a waxing course. Not long after, I resigned from my job and started offering waxing as a mobile service.

In the beginning, I had no clientele and nobody knew who I was. I had to figure out how to promote myself and build from nothing. One of my turning points was reaching out to a popular influencer on TikTok, Penelope, and offering her a wax. I just wanted a video for my portfolio, but she ended up posting about the experience herself and that video went viral. From there, clients started coming in, and to this day I still get clients because of Penelope’s post. I’ll always be grateful for that moment.

But more than the exposure, it pushed me to keep working harder, to motivate myself, and to really commit to making this work. Along the way, I realized that waxing isn’t just a service it’s something I genuinely love. It allows me to help people feel comfortable, confident, and cared for. That’s why I say waxing chose me: what started as simply learning a skill has turned into my passion and purpose.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m the founder of Aphrodite Waxing and Skin Studio, a brand dedicated to providing high-quality waxing services and redefining the self-care experience in Jamaica. My goal is simple yet bold when people think of waxing in Jamaica, I want them to think of Aphrodite Waxing.

In my country, many people still turn to razors, hair removal creams, or other quick fixes, and waxing isn’t as widely practiced. My mission is to change that by introducing waxing as the superior, long-lasting form of hair removal while creating a luxury experience for my clients.

I continuously invest in myself and my business by taking courses and attending international conferences, because I believe in growing with the industry and bringing the best back to my clients. Beyond services, I’ve also developed a line of aftercare products including the Smooth Babe Body & Kitty Oil, Smooth Babe Rosy Bliss, and Pearl Essence Salt Scrub to help clients maintain healthy, smooth skin between appointments.

Looking ahead, I’m focused on expansion. I want to dominate not just St. Catherine, but all of Jamaica, with future locations in Kingston, St. Ann, Negril, and eventually overseas. Aphrodite Waxing is more than a studio it’s a movement to make waxing a celebrated part of self-care.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Consistency taught me that even when it feels like no one is paying attention, people are always watching. Every post, every client interaction, every effort adds up over time and that’s how trust and recognition are built.

Self-belief has been the foundation. There will always be doubts and challenges, but if you don’t believe in yourself, it’s hard for anyone else to. I had to trust that I could make this work, even when I was starting from zero.

Discipline is what ties it all together. You can have big dreams, but without the discipline to show up every day and do the work especially on the tough days those dreams remain just dreams.

My advice to anyone just starting out is simple: believe you can do it, keep showing up, and stay disciplined. Even when it gets hard, do it anyway. Over time, those habits compound, and that’s where success really comes from.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Absolutely. Collaboration is something I’m very passionate about because it allows me to grow while also bringing more value to my clients. I’ve already had the opportunity to collaborate with Italwax, and I’d love to make that relationship more official. I’m also very interested in working with brands like NovaWax, Starpil, and Bushbalm, as their products and values align with the luxury waxing experience I aim to provide at Aphrodite Waxing and Skin Studio.

For me, these collaborations aren’t just about products they’re about raising the standard of waxing and skin care in Jamaica, creating awareness, and showing people the importance of investing in proper self-care. Anyone interested in partnering can reach me through my studio’s social media platforms or directly via email.
