We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jack Horsley. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jack below.
Jack , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Growing up with Autism, gaining self esteem and confidence were very slow growing. Both have taken time to develop through hard work and a village of people who have always believed in me.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a wedding and portrait photographer located in Knoxville, Tennessee. I specialize in weddings, families, seniors, headshots and more! Although I am located in Knoxville, I also have a passion for adventure and being a destination photographer as well!
My passion for photography started when I was young when I would play around with cameras. What started as a hobby then turned into my college major. After graduation, I started my professional photography journey.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I believe I have one of the strongest work ethics around. I am dedicated to my craft and to the people I photograph.
My advice to those who are starting their photography journeys would be organization, dedication, and commitment. These three elements are what I practice daily.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
Recognizing my disability very young and gaining access to early intervention strategies has certainly made the greatest impact on my life. Without their understanding of Autism, the guidance they gained from other professionals and their unwavering love, I don’t believe I would be where I am today. They have been instrumental in my overall development and their love and support has made all things attainable.
