Meet Jackie O’Brien

We recently connected with Jackie O’Brien and have shared our conversation below.

Jackie, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
I always believe that, “there is always tomorrow”. For example, people generally tend to underestimate the cost and time needed for photography projects. The planning process may take time to achieve the look or vision you or a client may be wanting, by encouraging others to dive in and take chances, thats where the the positive energy comes from. This means that even when bad things happen, being optimistic you can overcome all adversities.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I fell in love with photography from a very young age. It was a film camera with a flash bulb on top that really pulled me in. From the very first moment that I had a camera in my hands I was hooked and fascinated by the images it captured. Being able to capture portraits and a vision of what a brand or client is wanting is one of my greatest missions that I enjoy so much.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The intensity of photography is always changing, being able to not change with the fads in keeping portraits timeless is my greatest objective. Always learning from others and challenging yourself to master directional light is the greatest objective.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Im always willing to collaborate with brands or companies with a unique vision, which allows me to express my truest creativity.
