Meet Jackie Pitt

We recently connected with Jackie Pitt and have shared our conversation below.

Jackie , we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?

Generosity, I believe, is an innate trait. I observe it often in children. One that is fostered by your environment and experiences in life. We did not have a lot when I was a child, but what I saw was my mother being willing to help others even in our lack. She had a heart for people, and her generosity reached beyond what was in front of her. To be generous must come from a place of love. I watched how she cared for others because of her genuine love for people. By observing her, I too became a cheerful giver. However, as most things develop over time, I believe this character trait developed through the ebbs and flows of life, but came full circle at some point. Generosity does not mean you give because someone asks, but it entails using wisdom. Foolish giving can lead you on a path of destruction.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

About three years ago, I started my non-profit, Reveal Inc., and it has become one of my greatest joys. The work started long before this, but the manifestation as a 501c-3 began in 2022. The shift came around 2020, as it did for most of us, because of the pandemic. With plans to have a conference for mothers and daughters, instead, I created a group on Facebook called Mothers & Daughters, which grew from a few close friends and family to over 800 members from around the country and the world. We share daily encouragement, resources, and information to equip women, teens, and girls on this journey called life. This group has produced 2 anthologies, multiple scholarships, and an annual mothers and daughters brunch that has sold out and grown over the last 4 years. Our upcoming brunch will be held on May 10th (you can get tickets here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1274135215729?aff=oddtdtcreator). This year’s theme is Mothers & Daughters: Project Runway. It is our pleasure to work with Mrs. Alicia Gibson-Robinson from The Miss South Carolina Organization for our upcoming fashion show. This is one of our biggest fundraising events of the year. Reveal expects to launch the new curriculum in the fall.

Outside of my non-profit, I have plans to launch my new scrub business this year. I am still toggling with the name, but have narrowed it down to only two.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three things I found most impactful as I look back over the journey are belief, boldness, and execution. Belief is essential to get you to move in what has been assigned to you. We all have an assignment, and if we do not believe we are chosen for the task, we will not act upon it. When we believe (know that we know), then we move with boldness and confidence as if we were made for this. Belief leads to being purpose-driven. Lastly, when we believe, it leads us to walk in boldness, and boldness creates the tenacity to execute the mission. How do you get from thinking about to being about? You write your vision and make it plain. Take it out of your head and write it down, so you can see your mission daily. Share with trustworthy people who will encourage, guide you, and hold you accountable. For example, when I was sharing with someone in my circle about my scrub business, she asked, “Do you have a prototype, something you can keep in front of you? At the time, I didn’t, but within 2 weeks, I had made it happen. Believe-Boldness-Execution!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I would love to collaborate with other organizations throughout the area, whether in South Carolina, where I am located, or other states. Organizations that work with the community to improve an individual’s overall well-being in all areas of their life, but especially those that foster inner growth. We have plans to expand the Mothers & Daughters Brunch to other states to bring women, teens, and girls together on one accord. Those looking to partner or collaborate may reach me via my website-www.revealinc.org or (803 )221-0087.
