Meet Jackson Scott

We were lucky to catch up with Jackson Scott recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jackson, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

I get my work ethic from dropping out of school at a young age and becoming a carpenter and blacksmith
My mother had an influence on me she is very hardworking , so are my siblings although we are susceptible to procrastination,
My father however was very disciplined when he put his mind to it

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am releasing music through Jackson Scott Walter on various platforms
I’m about to put out recordings I did in India a few years ago
I’m also working on an instrumental album with Spanish guitar compositions that I’m adding textures of electric guitar here and there, it’s a sort of spaghetti western classical exotica vibe,
I’m also playing around New York City with a few different projects
My jazzy rumba bluesy 4 peice, a rock band called La pucelle , a guitar duo and more traditional flamenco shows with various dancers and singers based in nyc

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Obviously the most important is to be yourself as much as possible , which is hard considering that the 2nd pice of advice id say is to soak up as much influence as possible , it’s never to late to learn and discover new styles and inspirations
Listen ,decode , steal!!
And 3rd don’t listen too much to chatter boxes it’s the silent ones that usually have most to say
Remember what I said
Listen to me haha
No muy really silence is important and so powerful

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?

I believe it’s very difficult to not go all in when it comes to creating the skeleton of a piece of art, we’ll end up racing down a tunnel and the anxieties that draw us to complete the puzzle are what impact the listener or viewer of what we do, one can try to relax an stay focused but the fear of losing inspiration gets in the way , most art doesn’t come from a comfortable place, you can only stare at a cupcake for so long,
The parts that need improvement come one’s the meat and potatoes is in place that’s when the work starts
But this can be enjoyable actually
Be slow and meditative keep going over and over bits
I’m still trying to figure this out too
Everything is always new
