We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jaclyn E. a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jaclyn , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
I spent much of my childhood trying to fit in and often felt like I was falling short. Over time, I stopped trying to blend in and began embracing what made me different.
In my career as a piano entertainer, I’ve often been the only young woman in the room, surrounded mostly by male players. Early on, most of my mentors were older men from a different generation, which made it difficult to fully relate. Discovering the Piano Ladies community changed that, connecting me with women who share my drive and ambition.
Now I see standing out as my strength. I show up as I am, unapologetically, knowing that authenticity will always carry me further than trying to fit in.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am currently focused on growing my company, Jaclyn E Music LLC, and booking more events here in Florida. I provide music for weddings, private parties, corporate events, restaurants, and public venues, and recently expanded to offer luxury piano shell rentals that elevate the look of any event. This past month, one of my shells was even rented for a Miss Universe Nicaragua event in Miami, which was such an exciting milestone. At the heart of it all, my goal is to create experiences people will always remember, whether it is a couple’s first dance or a crowd singing along at a show.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three most important qualities in my journey have been resilience, adaptability, and connection.
Resilience has carried me through rejection and uncertainty, and I’ve learned to see setbacks as redirection rather than failure. Adaptability has allowed me to thrive in different environments since every event and audience is unique. And connection has been the heart of everything, from building relationships with clients and other musicians to creating meaningful moments with an audience.
My advice for anyone starting out is to keep going, stay flexible, and always lead with authenticity. People can feel when you are genuine, and that is what leaves a lasting impact.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client is someone who values music as the heart of their event and wants it to bring people together. I love working with clients who are excited about creating an atmosphere where guests feel involved, whether that means singing along, making requests, or simply enjoying the energy of the show. The best clients are the ones who care about creating meaningful experiences and trust me to bring both connection and artistry to make their event unforgettable.
