We were lucky to catch up with Jaclyn Loughner recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jaclyn, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my mom, who has been the greatest example of resilience, dedication, and perseverance. She became a single mother at just 22, raising me while working full-time as a nurse to ensure I had everything I needed. Despite the challenges she faced, she never let obstacles stand in her way.
Throughout my childhood, my mom continued to push forward, earning her bachelor’s degree and graduating as the Valedictorian of her class. She didn’t stop there—she went on to complete an accelerated program to earn her MBA, all while balancing work and motherhood. She worked night shifts, parented on little to no sleep, and never accepted “no” as an answer when it came to achieving her goals.
Her relentless drive and unwavering commitment to our family showed me the true meaning of hard work. Watching her sacrifice and succeed taught me that determination, discipline, and perseverance are the keys to overcoming any challenge. Because of her, I strive to work just as hard in everything I do, never settling for less than my best when it comes to providing for my family!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As an event planner, my job is to bring my clients’ visions to life, ensuring every detail aligns perfectly with their dreams. From event styling and vendor coordination to execution on the big day, I handle every aspect to create seamless, unforgettable experiences. No two events are ever the same, and that’s what makes my work so exciting.
The best part of my job is witnessing my clients’ emotions as their vision unfolds before their eyes. Seeing the joy, excitement, and sometimes even tears of happiness makes all the hard work worth it. I have the privilege of being part of major milestones in people’s lives, growing alongside families as their celebrations evolve. What starts as planning a child’s first birthday often leads to organizing milestone birthdays, corporate events, and beyond.
Building these lasting relationships and helping create moments that people cherish forever is what makes my job so rewarding. Every event is a new story, a new experience, and a new opportunity to bring happiness to others.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities that have had the biggest impact on my journey are resilience, adaptability, and attention to detail.
Resilience has been vital in overcoming obstacles. Whether navigating unexpected challenges or working long hours to meet tight deadlines, staying focused and determined has helped me persevere through difficult situations. This mindset keeps me motivated, always pushing to improve and overcome whatever comes my way.
Adaptability has been another key factor. In event planning, no two projects are alike, and I’ve learned to adjust quickly to last-minute changes, evolving client expectations, and shifting circumstances. I always remind myself, “nothing is a problem unless you make it a problem.” Being flexible and staying calm in the face of change has allowed me to handle anything with ease, ensuring the success of every event.
Lastly, attention to detail is essential in my line of work. It’s the small things—the perfect color scheme, the timing, or the flawless coordination of vendors—that turn an event from good to unforgettable. By focusing on every element, I ensure everything comes together smoothly, allowing my clients’ visions to come to life exactly as they imagined.
Together, these qualities, alongside my passion for event planning, have been key to my growth and success in this industry.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My family has been the most helpful in helping me overcome challenges and develop the essential skills I needed to be successful. Their unwavering support has been a constant source of strength, always encouraging me to push myself and do better. Whenever I’ve faced obstacles, they’ve been there to help, offering advice, pitching in when needed, and always having my back. Their belief in me has played a huge role in my ability to grow and stay motivated, and I’m incredibly grateful for them.
