Meet Jacob Burrola

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jacob Burrola. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Jacob, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve always loved creating new ideas, solutions for things, or even art in general. I started making music at the age of 14 when my stepbrother introduced me to FL Studio. For the first 6 years, I was making a range of different genres from Trap beats to Hyperpop. Looking back, It wasn’t always uphill, there were a lot of ups and downs, and even times where I almost quit music as a whole. I’ve always felt misunderstood when it came to the music I liked growing up, as I fell in love with electronic music, specifically dubstep. No one around me (or that I knew of) listened to that kind of music, yet It held such a special place in my heart. Fast forward to college, I got into DJing which influenced me to start producing Dubstep. Instantly that brought so much joy back into music production as I was finally making the music I’ve always dreamed up. There was only one problem, I didn’t know how to find a gig and I knew that would be near impossible given my lack of social media presence. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and start my own company called “Mxke Noise” during the summer of 2024. I remember playing my first official show and how I wanted to do that for the rest of my life. The goal of Mxke Noise is to create opportunities for artists who felt what I felt growing up. I wanted to create a community where artists could freely express themselves and play the music THEY WANTED TO PLAY. While also specifically highlighting artists who are forward-thinking and innovative with their sound. I feel like Mxke Noise gives me so much purpose in life as I am not only able to create opportunities for others but also have the creative freedom I’ve always wanted when it came to playing my own shows. A lot of time, having this company keeps me motivated as I know this is way bigger than just me, and I hope to eventually grow it big enough that I leave an impact on dance music.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Currently, I am a full-time student studying film and media production, while also growing my company and personal music career. I’d say at times it is challenging to balance everything, but also I am grateful to still be in school as it allows me to not be afraid to fail. I am also lucky to have an amazing team, specifically my friends Jonathan and Allen who have been helping me plan our next event in Orange County. This will be my first time playing in OC so I am excited and grateful to have the opportunity to play in different states. I hope to one day travel the world with my friends and play shows under Mxke Noise!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

If I had some advice for people wanting to do something similar, I’d say to just do it! I’ve created so many opportunities and opened so many doors just by taking action. That’s something I wish I had known sooner, It never hurts to ask and you never know what kind of opportunities can come from it. Next, I’d say make it a priority to create genuine relationships instead of just “networking”. To me, the people I work with are more than just “business partners”, they are family. On top of that, we are a team. I think creating a team is equally as important as the ideas themselves as you can never do everything yourself and give it your best effort. It’s good to create a team of people with different strengths, but the same goal/vision. That way they can help assist the areas you lack and overall propel the business forward. Lastly, shoot for the stars and always stay true to yourself. Do that and anything can happen! I feel like a lot of people these days fall into trends or get caught up in the corporate side of things. PLEASE always stay true to yourself as even though people might not understand, doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea. A lot of the time it takes the world years to catch up, so you just need to keep believing in your vision and hope one day people will see what YOU see.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

I would say the most impactful thing my parent did for me, was never allow me to fall alone. Saying that you won’t fall/fail is unrealistic, but I am blessed to have parents who have been more than supportive and constantly remind me that I’m not alone in all of this. I’d say my dad is one of my biggest supporters when it comes to my music. He was there every step of the way, from buying me my first DAW and DJ board to even helping me create my LLC. I’ll be forever grateful for him supporting my creativity. As for my mom, I am forever grateful that she pushed for strong faith. Specifically in my more recent years, I’ve seen how God has worked wonders in her life, and in many ways it acts as reminder to trust him no matter what.
