Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jacob Hoopes. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jacob, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Overcoming imposter syndrome is difficult, but practicing things you are passionate about, growing in skill and competence, and recognizing that growth seems to be a pretty effective way to get over that hurdle.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
We are a three piece alt metal act from the Philadelphia area. We create unique, fun heavy music that fuses aspects of groove metal, alt metal, metalcore, and electronic music together. Our live show is tons of fun, where we deliver high energy, impactful performances. We are focusing heavily on writing and recording new material, with each of our songs having distinctive aspects that make them all uniquely “ours”.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three things that were most impactful in our journey were learning how to network, developing perseverance, and having a good work ethic. While we still have a way to go in our journey in the music industry, so far, we have found that the skills that are important to develop are the ones mentioned above. While these are by no means the key to success, they can help you avoid making serious mistakes along the way.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
We’d love to incorporate new elements of different genres into our music. If you are a producer, rapper, vocalist, or play any instrument or if you want to work with us some other way in any capacity, hit us up via our email, theageofore@gmail.com!
