Meet Jacque Boney

We recently connected with Jacque Boney and have shared our conversation below.

Jacque , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I get my resilience from my parents, Tom and Vikki Boney. Both of them have been successful in corporate America, and through their experiences, they have shown me the power of resilience and the importance of showing up for others. They’ve demonstrated what it means to get back up after setbacks, face challenges head-on, and keep pushing forward.

Beyond their professional success, they have been my biggest supporters, always encouraging me to believe in myself. Their unwavering support has given me the confidence to be resilient in my own journey, knowing that setbacks are just stepping stones to future success.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I have always dreamed of being an entrepreneur and making a meaningful impact on the world. Right now, I’m focused on SportOroo, a platform I co-founded with my mom to bring transparency and accountability to youth sports. Our goal is to change the game by helping parents and athletes make informed decisions when choosing clubs, leagues, and training programs. Youth sports can be an incredible experience, but too often, families struggle to find clear and honest information. With SportOroo, we’re working to bridge that gap and ensure that every young athlete has access to the best opportunities.

Beyond SportOroo, I’m preparing for the next chapter in my journey. I’ll be graduating this May from the University of Michigan with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Entrepreneurship. After that, I’ll be pursuing my Master’s in Accounting, further building the foundation for my entrepreneurial career.

As SportOroo grows, we’re looking forward to expanding into new sports, providing even more resources for families, and continuing to make a difference in the youth sports space. You can check us out at SportOroo.com, and we’re excited about what’s ahead!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are competitiveness, teamwork, and resilience.

Competitiveness has driven me to push myself beyond limits, always striving for improvement and never settling for mediocrity. It has fueled my ambition and kept me focused on achieving my goals.
Teamwork has been essential in both sports and business. Whether competing on the court or building SportOroo, I’ve learned that success comes from surrounding yourself with great people, collaborating effectively, and lifting each other up.
Resilience has been the backbone of my journey. There have been setbacks, challenges, and moments of doubt, but I’ve learned to get back up and keep moving forward.

A phrase my family always says is “just keep swimming.” No journey is ever perfect, and there will be times when things don’t go as planned. My advice to young people is to keep going, keep pushing yourself, and trust that if you put in the effort and do the right things, you’ll get to where you want to be. The path may not always be straight, but resilience and determination will get you there.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

At SportOroo, we’re always looking for passionate individuals and organizations who want to make a difference in youth sports and help bring more transparency and accountability to the industry.

We’re especially interested in collaborating with people who have backgrounds in marketing, community building, and platform development—anyone who can help us expand our reach, engage with parents and athletes, and continue to grow the platform. But beyond skillsets, we’re looking for people who share our vision of making youth sports better for everyone.

If you’re passionate about changing the game, we’d love to connect! You can reach out to us through our website, SportOroo.com, or connect with us on social media to stay updated and start a conversation. Let’s work together to make a lasting impact in youth sports!
