We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jacqueline Mclean. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jacqueline below.
Jacqueline , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
After nearly 30 years as a nurse with a primary focus on chronic disease, my life took a pivotal turn six years ago when my brother passed away from a heart attack caused by uncontrolled blood pressure. Alongside the deep grief of losing him, I also experienced a profound sense of hopelessness. Despite my decades of experience in nursing, I couldn’t save my brother.
That heartbreak became my turning point. I decided to channel my pain into purpose by becoming a health and wellness coach. Now, I dedicate my life to helping middle-aged adults take control of their blood pressure so they can live a fulfilling life and create cherished memories with their loved ones.
I couldn’t save my brother, but I can save others. My mission is clear: to change and save lives.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As a Transformational Health and Wellness Coach, I help middle-aged adults naturally take control of their blood pressure and reclaim their health. My approach is holistic and personalized, focusing on helping my clients shift their mindset and make lasting lifestyle changes that bring peace of mind and improve their quality of life, while preventing strokes and heart attack so that they can create more cherished memories with their loved ones. My mission is simple: it is to change and save lives.
What excites me most is witnessing my clients’ transformations. It’s incredibly rewarding to see someone go from feeling stuck and overwhelmed to feeling empowered and confident in their ability to manage their health. Knowing I’ve played a role in helping them live fuller, healthier lives is what drives me every day.
My brand is all about creating natural, sustainable change. I believe that when the mind, body, and spirit work together, true healing happens. My role is to guide and support my clients with the tools, education, and accountability they need to succeed, while honoring their unique journeys.
Right now, I’m thrilled about two key offerings:
My 12-week coaching program, designed to guide clients step by step toward lowering their blood pressure naturally and creating sustainable habits that last a lifetime.
My wellness retreats, that offer a blend of relaxation, self-care workshops, and opportunities to reconnect with oneself. These retreats provide a safe space and tools to rejuvenate, reset, and prioritize personal well-being, while experiencing unique activities in beautiful destinations.
Through my coaching and retreats, I’m here to inspire and empower people to take control of their health, find balance, and create a life they truly love, naturally.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, empathy, and a commitment to lifelong learning. These have been instrumental in shaping both my personal growth and the way I empower others.
Resilience: As a teenage mom in Jamaica, I faced significant challenges but was determined to create a better future for myself and my child. When I migrated to America, it took me five years to complete my Associate degree due to financial struggles and the need to work while studying. These experiences taught me how to persevere against the odds. Later, losing my brother to a preventable health condition tested my resilience again, fueling my drive to transform my pain into purpose.
Empathy: My experiences as a nurse and my personal health struggles have allowed me to connect deeply with others. Empathy helps me truly listen to my clients and understand their fears, frustrations, and desires. It’s the foundation of the trust I build with them.
Lifelong Learning: As a young girl who didn’t graduate from high school, I was determined to rewrite my story. I not only went on to achieve my Associate degree but later earned a Bachelor of Science, a Master’s degree in Nursing, and multiple nursing certifications. Each step on this journey reinforced the value of growth and resilience and equipped me to better serve my clients and inspire them to embrace their own growth.
Advice:
I believe the foundation for resilience, empathy, and a commitment to learning begins with prioritizing yourself. Focus on your own well-being, and understand that self-care is not selfish, it is the foundation for becoming successful both personally and professionally. When you take care of yourself, you show up as your best self, radiating the energy and confidence needed to attract the right opportunities and people into your life.
Embrace challenges as stepping stones for growth, and reflect on what they teach you. Listen actively and compassionately to yourself and others to deepen connections and understanding. Stay curious and open to learning, and trust that setbacks are part of your journey toward becoming the person you’re meant to be. By focusing on these qualities and caring for yourself, you’ll not only transform your own life but also inspire and uplift everyone around you.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
Public speaking has been one of my biggest fears, and for many years, it held me back; not just in my personal life but also in my professional life. This fear limited my ability to share my message and connect with others in a way that could truly make an impact.
In October, I made a commitment to face this challenge head-on. With the support of my business coach, who continuously pushes me to show up for myself, I decided to intentionally seek out opportunities to speak. I set a goal to secure three public speaking engagements within six months, and I am proud to say that I’m on track to exceed this goal.
In November, I spoke at a women’s retreat, and just yesterday, I hosted my first Reflect, Renew & Rise Goal-Setting Workshop for 2025. I’ll be hosting part two of this workshop next week and have already accepted an invitation to speak at a women’s summit in February 2025.
Conquering this fear of public speaking is deeply important to me because I believe that if more people hear about what I do, I can serve more people and ultimately save more lives. Every opportunity to speak brings me closer to achieving my mission of changing and saving lives. By opening myself up to these opportunities and speaking my intentions into the universe, I’m taking bold steps to overcome this challenge and create a greater impact.
