We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jada Ford . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jada below.
Jada, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?
I overcame burnout by setting personal boundaries. The boundaries I’ve learned to set have helped me become a better worker, better mom BETTER WIFE and a better me. Think it’s important to do so for selfcare.
In the mornings, I wake up and completely focus on my mental health. I do not check my phone for emails nor do I look at social media. Instead I have a cup of coffee and I sit on the front porch and take everything in. This helps me get in the mindset to start the day. Then when my children wake up for school, I am ready to cease the day!
For work, especially working remotely, I choose to start and stop at the hours that make the most sense. It’s easy to fall into the trap of sending and receiving emails in the morning and at night.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am JADA FORD, network executive and host of Lovesick Podcast.
Though I am a network producer by day, I’ve recently launched a podcast, Lovesick Podcast with my fellow team
members Michael Fishman and Dorothea MCGUIRE
The Lovesick Podcast is a heartwarming, while informative exploration of health, wellness, and living through complex or chronic medical conditions. Hosts Jada Ford, Dorothea McGuire, and Michael Fishman combine to create an empathetic environment for guests to share their journey and knowledge, inspirationally empowering the audience.
The discussions center around the world of personal health, highlighting the impacts chronic illness and rare disease have on relationships, families, mental health, and community. Guests will share their powerful stories, challenges, and triumphs, transporting listeners into their world. Survivors, medical professionals, experts, advocates, and caregivers provide valuable strategies each episode for navigating the healthcare system to manage medical conditions.
Lovesick Podcast creates a community of compassion, understanding, and heartfelt support by sharing personal stories for those experiencing health challenges, or anyone who wants to better understand their journey. Lovesick is a loving point of connection, where deep conversations, heartfelt laughs, cathartic empathy and a desire for healthier lives, bring people together.
This is a project that is important to me and near and dear to my heart.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Say the skills I’ve applied here are from my days as a television producer, booking locations, meeting different people , telling their stories for the world to see, has all been instrumental in creating my podcast.
I’ve had to break out of my comfort zone which was hard at first. I am so used to being behind the camera that the thought of bringing myself to forefront was a little difficult to overcome at first.
Having the passion to showcase something that I truly believe in and the support from my family, friends and my fellow hosts have helped me overcome that fear.
I say people need to not let fears get in the way of their dreams! Worse thing you can do is not try!
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am looking for more folks to share their stories, those living with chronic illnesses, rare diseases, mental health, including , caretakers, medical professionals and family members. Let’s have these open discussions and normalize being sick!
