Meet Jada Howard

We recently connected with Jada Howard and have shared our conversation below.

Jada , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

I love this question because, from the outside looking in, it may seem as though keeping your creativity alive is a process separate from everyday reality and living.. however, it’s not. An important aspect of keeping your creativity alive is by authentically, and presently living your life everyday. I know, it sounds like that can’t be the entire gist of it all.. but it is. Creativity is found in the daily mundane, it’s found in the way that someone may wake-up and make their morning coffee, creativity is found in the way that someone may do their hair routine a little differently that day, or even try a new recipe. Life within itself is a creation and the epitome of creativity; Being present in life, seeing life for all of it’s beauties, and trinkets.. is how I keep my creativity alive.

For example, I could see a person walking across the street while I’m driving and think to myself “that could’ve been an awesome shot or photo concept”. I believe that taking some seriousness out of the creative process aids in keeping your creativity alive also. A child is always creative in their own way, take that however it resonates.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m Jada Howard, I offer services in areas of Creative Direction, Modeling, Creative Writing, and Photography. I do see myself turning what I do into a career, whether that’s writing and editing the articles for house-hold name magazines, or directing and photographing editorial photoshoots for fashion purposes. Although I’m versed in the areas of fashion and writing, I look forward to expanding and learning as a student to the journey.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Well .. I’m still a student to the journey, however for this current phase of my journey, I’ve found implementing these three impactful skills to be very useful.

Skillset 1) The skill of knowing how to pivot, throughout the journey you will travel upon roads that twist and turn, some twisting when you least expect it; Knowing how to shift through the adversities and different struggles that a creative or artist is bound to expect, can take one far in their journey.

Skillset 2) The skill and knowledge of knowing thyself, building this skillset ensures that you don’t lose yourself along the journey to a point of no return, and if you do, you will always return home to yourself once you build upon knowing yourself truly.

Skillset 3) The skill of knowing how to brand and market yourself, this is a skillset that I’m currently focusing on and building as I grow.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal client is someone professional and enthusiastic in nature, I also find it appealing when I work with someone who is attentive to detail because I am as well. The process flows at a better rate when my client and I can feed off of each other’s energy and bounce ideas around. Overall, I appreciate working with well-rounded, commendable individuals. My dream client is Rihanna, doing a project for Fenty Beauty would be a dream come true.
