We recently connected with Jada Ross and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jada, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I’ve always put my best foot forward with everything I’ve touched or set out to do. I know that my work ethic and drive to be the best version of myself at all times play a huge part in who I am today and what I’ve achieved. I can grant some of that credit to the people who’ve come before me. My family has always worked hard to provide the best for me. I’ve seen hard work and its value. My people worked hard to ensure every need and want I had was not only met, but exceeded. With that standard being set, I uphold those same values for myself and carry it through everything I put out.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Owning and operating Ja’s Treat Haven has connected me to the community in ways I had never imagined. My company offers Memphis and its surrounding areas a wide variety of dessert confections delivered right to residents doorsteps. This past year, we’ve expanded our services by offering inflatable unit rentals alongside our treat menu. It’s beyond exciting connecting with families in each part of the city. Seeing the next generation enjoy safe entertainment with their loved ones and having the trust of the entire community during their most sacred times is a real blessing in my eyes. On the other hand, it is that special time of year so I’m currently in my art bag as well. The general public can be expecting artwork from me for sale throughout the city these next few months. My newest piece will be making its debut in the coming weeks at Advance Memphis at their annual Art For Jobs preview party. This will be my third year contributing to the monumental showcase and fundraiser. I’m honored each year to join other artists and Advance Memphis in efforts to empower adults in the South Memphis community through economic stability.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
As I look back, I believe my understanding of the wants and needs of my community, love, and my unique craftsmanship have been leading factors in my journey thus far. I advise anyone at any point in their journey to always trust their gut. Your journey is yours to take and you have more control than you think. Take hold of the reins, set your vision, and trust it with everything in you. Acknowledging and living by these standards has brought me here, and I’m just getting my feet wet.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
God has ultimately been my guiding light through my success. I’ve been blessed with knowledge, skills, opportunities, and the right people doing and saying the right things in my life. I can’t accredit that to anyone but Him. He’s been there through every high and low, always extending his grace, even in the times I feel I may not have deserved it. I thank Him every day for it and I trust Him to take me far.
