Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jade. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Jade with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I believe my work ethic came from my ambitions. During highschool my family went through a lot and I knew I’d have to work for myself and my dream was always to do social media, and I had been working towards that since a young age (I started posting online at 11) but I also had to take on a part time job while also going to college in order to afford anything (as I also had to pay rent as soon as I turned 18). I knew I’d have to discipline myself a lot if I wanted to do social media full time, so I’d wake up really early to stream and film content, go to work during the day, then come home and do my college work before bed and do it all again the next day. I did this for a few years before being able to have my dream job and I couldn’t be more grateful for it, but I genuinely believe my work ethic was greatly enhanced by learning discipline to achieve the job I wanted while juggling another job and school.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I want to be the comfort creator I needed when I was younger- or even now, I have comfort creators I go watch myself when I’m feeling down if I need a laugh. My main goal is to make people smile, it makes me feel like I have an impact on a persons life if I can just make them feel better, even if it’s just for a bit. I make vlogs on YouTube where I just talk about random things or take the camera to join me on my little adventures which is something I personally really enjoy watching when I’m feeling alone. It’s comforting in a way. My main goal for my career is to do YouTube and I’m still working towards that, and I feel that it’s going well so far. I just hope people are able to find a sort of safe space in my content.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
There’s a few different things that helped me on my journey, I think a big one is definitely discipline. As I mentioned earlier, I was juggling school, a part time job and streaming/social media at the same time, I feel like scheduling yourself and making sure you consistently complete everything you need to do to achieve your goals helps a lot, even if you feel discouraged at times. Another thing that helped is not allowing yourself to compare yourself too much to other creators- you can definitely take inspiration but it’s incredibly discouraging to watch the view count, likes or follows of another creator and expecting the same of yourself. Everyone grows at different paces, it took me YEARS to get to where I am. Lastly, I think connecting with other people within your niche. I didn’t do this for a while because I was scared to reach out but after making friends who do the same thing as me I realized it’s really nice to have people to relate to and talk to for advice.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
I am currently going through possibly one of the roughest times in my life, and it’s hard to keep up with my job (even though I am very grateful for it it’s hard to fake a smile and film/stream when all I want to do is cry in bed) and this is why making connections with people who do the same thing as you is so important. I’ve been finding comfort in knowing there are people struggling with the same things as me and still making content. It gives me hope that I can do the same.
