We recently connected with Jade Harman and have shared our conversation below.
Jade, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Growing up, I was raised by a hardworking single mom (56 years old) who adopted me from China at age 2. She was always getting me into after school programs, sports and community activities to keep my mind growing.
I was also diagnosed with being dyslexic in 4th grade. A learning disorder that made it difficult in school, but I got help by my teachers/ tutors along the way with the help of a 504 Plan. The only thing is that I knew I had to work 10x harder than everyone else to catch up with homework, tests and grades.
I realized over the years of being dyslexic, I had gained some valuable skills to use in the real world besides school. Some skills were: being punctual, hardworking, highly organized, and dedicated. These would be the tools to build my success over the years. I also had to problem solve a lot because my mind did not work the same like most people. Overall, I have admired the work ethic I have gained over the years. I know there is always room to improve.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
As a model, I have expanded on the beauty of expression & creativity. When I started as a model, my idea was to build myself in the community while supporting others in the same spot light. I have always been the person who enjoys both in the spotlight and behind the scenes of a masterpiece. Why? Well, I enjoy different perspectives and I go deep into knowing the people I collaborate with. It’s my favorite thing to do, network and spreading knowledge and light from one another.
I have recent been apart of the committee for a new nonprofit called TFFAW Inc. – the fashion show is called The Multicultural Food & Fashion Show for May 13, 2023 at the Glendale Civic Center. Where I help with social marketing, recruiting and much more. TFFAW was manifested to help women and children thrive through our mentorship program. We run differnt fashion shows to spread the word of our nonprofits and to fund the mentorship.
As it’s growing, we have seen the beauty of our AZ community and shared passion for fashion and creativity. We recent just had our first mini teaser February 5th. Our upcoming fashion show is May 13th, 2023. This one is something you don’t want to miss out! Its going to be big. It’s all about Taste of Fashion and Food. A multi-cultural shows with plenty of diversity and vendors or all sorts. We would love to see you all there. Defiantly check our website: www.tffaw.org and our instagram @tffawm.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Be open to receive, gratitude will take you far, and remember your why.
* Be open to receive the blessings in life. We are constantly being reminded daily that nothing is limiting. It is limitless. We must open our hearts in order to see the bigger picture to our journey.
* Gratitude will remind you of the blessings in disguise even when you thought things weren’t going to work out. They do for your highest good. Gratitude has always allowed me to be humble and appreciate the lessons life throws at me.
* Remember your why. Why did I wake up today? Why did I start this new project? Why did I continue pursuing this passion, etc. There’s power being your intentions. The why is your reasoning, to your actions and manifestation. Over the years, my why has become clearer because I saw the power of trusting the process and telling myself my reasoning behind my whys.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
12 months has shown me my strengths, weaknesses and what I truly desire right now in life. It’s shown me to be more patient in life and learn how to rest. Rest my mind, body, and soul. I work a lot. I wouldn’t call myself a workaholic but my mind always wants to feel productive. Overworking, and not setting personal time to relax or to focus on what my body is telling me has been the lesson recently. Everyone has burnout, but it’s about learning how to manage it and be aware of it before it ever happens. I’m such a go-getter that when I see an opportunity to grow, I will be the first one to try it. That’s what makes me ambitious.
The things I desire in life are simple things. I’m a simple person, but sometimes we can overthink how we can achieve the simple things. So recently, I have been training my mind to think simple and speak simple.
