We were lucky to catch up with Jaden Frazier recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Jaden with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
ALL of my hard work and determination comes from 3 places; My parents, my birthplace, and my experiences. Since I was old enough to walk my parents worked day & night to create a sustainable living for me and my brother. Usually my dad would work early mornings and my mom late nights. As a child, I didn’t and couldn’t understand why my parents were always gone, now I do. Seeing them work so hard but also settle, motivated me to put in my fullest effort but only with things that made me happy. Chicago in itself is a hustling city. It creates hustlers and individuals who are determined to succeed. My experiences, simply taught me, to never experience those situations again. Motivating me to recognize when I’d slip and work extremely hard to never be in that place again.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As a recent graduate from North Carolina A&T, I hear this question most often. Many people wonder if I’ll still be DJ’n. The answer is yes. However, I’ll be entering the corporate world as a full time wealth management advisor. Music will always be my passion so I will never part from it. Much of my time will be focused within the financial atmosphere, as I plan to obtain as much knowledge as possible. In return, I’ll be able to help my peers, family, and people who look like me but know nothing about pure financial freedom. The #1 fear of an individual is poverty, second being death. I’m not a life coach but I am financial guru. While I’ll be DJ’n every so often my main focus will be uprooting a venue or club of some sort. Upcoming adventures for me in early 2024 include moving to Charlotte, NC and expanding my HBCU artist label.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The 3 most important skills that attribute to my continued success are; restriction, knowledge, and prevalence. Restriction is a type of power that allows someone to restrain from past mistakes or habits, at least that’s how I see it. Breaking old habits creates space for new progression. Knowledge has always been power. Reading & listening to podcast often broaden my perception of life and the usefulness of it, ultimately creating healthier habits. Prevalence, being last, is my ability to overcome any given situation. There has been many times where I was at a lower state, however I always prevail and never return. My advice, become a sponge and learn how truly powerful you are.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
An amazing book I recommend is James Allen, As A Man Thinketh. This book in particular opened my eyes to truly understanding my power. The power I possess within myself, within this life, and within my own happiness. A few nuggets from the book got me out of dark times. Like how what we sew in our minds materialize in reality, ultimately creating our environment. We know that an environment takes a huge toll on an individual’s personality and mindset. Another nugget constitutes to health and eating. The body should be treated as a temple and the consumption of certain things can harm that temple. In short, everything reverts back to being mentally stable.
