Meet Jahara Jennae

We were lucky to catch up with Jahara Jennae recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jahara, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

This was such a journey for me. I did not start out confident at all. I was afraid, I was unsure, nervous, and didn’t fully believe in myself. However, I knew, and just truly felt that this was something I was supposed to pursue. I truly believed that if this is what I meant to do, then I needed to do it regardless of my fears. I trusted that would come. I just needed to stay focused.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

As the founder and lead artist of Beauty by Jahara Jennaé, I specialize in creating elevated natural and soft glam looks that enhance each client’s unique beauty. My approach is all about blending artistry with an understanding of personal stype.

What sets Beauty by Jahara Jennaé apart is our commitment to a personalized experience. I believe in building trust with my clients through thoughtful consultations and listening to their vision. My goal is not only to highlight their features but to ensure they feel like the best version of themselves—whether it’s for a wedding, photoshoot, or any special event. I want them to feel safe.

Working in the beauty industry is exciting because it constantly evolves, blending creativity with innovation. Every new technique or trend provides an opportunity to grow as an artist and elevate my clients’ experience. But more than the artistry, I love the moments of connection with my clients—the excitement, joy, and transformation that comes with helping them feel beautiful inside and out.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I truly believe, in the beauty industry, intentionality and community are the foundation of long term success. Being intentional means being purposeful in every aspect of your work, from the quality of services you offer to the relationships you build with clients. It’s about truly understanding each client’s needs and being thoughtful in delivering an experience that reflects their individuality. I approach each client with care, ensuring that every makeup look or hairstyle is tailored to highlight their unique features and personal style or the overall brief of the project.

Community is equally important. The beauty industry thrives on relationships—whether it’s with clients, other artists, or vendors. By creating a supportive and empowering network, you not only build trust but also foster collaborations that push your creativity forward. I believe that sharing knowledge, supporting other beauty professionals, and engaging with my clients beyond the chair are key to growth. It’s through community that we learn, inspire each other, and ultimately, succeed together.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

The most meaningful thing my parents ever did for me was to instill a deep belief in myself and in my ability to lead. They encouraged me to see my own potential and to trust that I have the strength and vision to guide others, even when I doubted myself. That belief has shaped not only who I am as a person but also how I approach my career and the impact I want to have on those around me.

As a kid, my mom told me that she thought I should work for myself. She saw something in me that she knew would sustain a business, and she knew that I needed to be at the forefront of it.
