Meet Jahmeir Chapman

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jahmeir Chapman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jahmeir , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
As a young boy, my family gave me the freedom to shape my own reality. Not being forced into a religion, told what to wear, or what to eat gave me confidence in making my own choices and embracing my own perception. Although I can be quite indecisive and have experienced deep inadequacy, I’ve always believed in myself—and even more so, that anything is possible. I truly believe the thoughts I hold inside my mind can be brought to reality without bounds or limits.

This belief has guided me throughout my life, allowing me to manifest my dreams, ideals, and aspirations. As I grew older, I started to learn more and more about myself and the world around me, ultimately becoming confident in my place in the universe. My outlook on life has allowed me to see the beauty in all things, respecting and embracing the radiance surrounding me.

With that, the universe has shown and continually proven to me that I am deeply interconnected. As I continue to give, the universe allows me to receive. Truly knowing who and what I am, realizing that my life is aligned and will continue to synchronize, and trusting that the universe will always be on my side—how could I not continue being confident in myself and my journey?

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Over the past 8 months, I’ve been actively participating in community markets, selling handmade jewelry and a curated selection of garments that I’ve sourced from all over Atlanta. What sets me apart isn’t just that I resell cool clothes; I intentionally engage with the community, fostering meaningful relationships and spreading positivity within my space. During my recent markets, I invited the community to write affirmations, which I then gave back to spread more positivity throughout the city.

Beyond curating garments, I’ve started upcycling and creating my own one of one pieces, allowing me to break free from the copy-and-paste trends I see around me. I’m excited to continue creating, with plans to curate my own events soon, where I can bring people together to celebrate individuality and self-expression.

Looking ahead, I’m thrilled to be designing for my first fashion show on March 27th, where I’ll be showcasing my stylist ability, consisting of upcycled pieces and curated garments from my brand @godsarchival ! I’ve been working and I’m excited to share with the world soon.

I’m also about to graduate with my degree in psychology and plan to pursue a PhD in community psychology as well as a Master’s in public health. Another one of my goals is to earn my ethnographic certification so I can explore and document unheard cultures, continually finding beauty in all life.

I’m also involved in Holistic Developments, Inc., an upcoming nonprofit founded by my grandfather, Curtis Miller, focusing on reconnecting people of African descent to their roots and the natural aspects of life that we have seemed to forget.

Everything I’m building and creating feels like it’s aligning, and I can see all my dreams and aspirations coming together in the long run .

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Within my journey, there have been many areas of knowledge and qualities I’ve attained to get to this point. However, I believe the most important aspects that have guided me are self-awareness, empathy, and perseverance.

Being self-aware allows me to understand both what I want, why, and how I navigate the world around me. It also allows me to remain present in my moments, adding a sense of clarity during profound moments in my life. Many people, myself included at one point, move through life aimlessly, never truly taking the time to understand themselves or the world around them. Without self-awareness, I don’t believe I’d be able to genuinely understand and connect with others.

Empathy is what bridges those gaps, bringing people together and fostering acceptance of differences. It allows us to understand emotions and experiences, enabling us to see the value in others. People deserve to feel seen and heard, and without empathy, it’s easy to overlook them or diminish their struggles.

Perseverance has been key in pushing forward despite constant challenges and obstacles. When things aren’t going as planned, it’s this quality that keeps me going and allows me to continue working toward my goals, no matter how difficult.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Over the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth has been learning to find validation within myself rather than seeking it externally. For a long time, I looked to my peers or the reactions to my creations as a source of validation, thinking that other people’s opinions held weight in determining my worth. However, as time passed, I began to realize that my true potential lies in trusting myself and my own perspective. When I trust my own perspective and embrace my creativity, it empowers others to do the same, as well as earn more respect for my ideals. There is no reason to seek validation when you and your God are the only validation you need.
