Meet Jaia

We recently connected with Jaia and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaia, so happy to have you with us today and there is so much we want to ask you about. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others developed certain skills or qualities that we are struggling with can be helpful. Along those lines, we’d love to hear from you about how you developed your ability to take risk?

I developed the ability to take risks at an early age. My father and I were very adventurous and would go places and do things that often required some form of risk taking: boat fishing, roller coasters, trips, and more. Or with my mother, who involved me in the arts at an early age, therefore teaching me confidence.

As I matriculated into adulthood , I realized that many people are not happy because of their level of complacency. I too was one of them years ago. It wasn’t until I discovered that my freedom was in my risk taking, that life began to become more fulfilling. I was actually succeeding at the risks I was taking, ultimately dancing to the rhythm of my own drum.

Having a supportive people in your corner is also powerful when deciding to take risks.

Furthermore, I learned to accept the idea of uncertainty . Uncertainty is like the long lost brother to risk, that many don’t favor. But again, that’s where I found my freedom to keep soaring and trying as I unlock new levels.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’ve always had two passions—Music and Beauty.

While music was my main focus, beauty (hair) became a creative outlet and income source. At 15, I became an entrepreneur, braiding hair, writing my first business plan, and drawing my first blueprint. Nearly a year ago, I quit my last job and started Loc’d By Jaia Hair Studios. Serving people, restoring their confidence, and pursuing financial freedom has been incredibly fulfilling.

My Flagship Loc’d By Jaia Hair Studios is approaching its 1 year anniversary on October 1, 2024. With excitement To celebrate, I am launching The Loc Mastery Academy, an educational platform to help other locticians elevate and master their skills and earning potential, while filling a major curriculum gap in cosmetology education.

The official Launch Date is September 1, 2024.

On Loc’d By Jaia’s anniversary, I’m also launching my luxury hair care line, featuring our first product-a premium Herbal Scalp and Growth Oil with over 15 vital herbs and more. More details to come soon!

Check out my pre-launch content on social media and join my mailing list for updates on The Loc Mastery Academy.

I definitely see myself as a budding pioneer in the loc industry.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I believe my success and growth thus far can be attributed to passion, perseverance, and faith. This is a universal law for anything pursued.

My best advice for those early in their journey (like me) is to be unapologetic about what your passions that you are willing to endure life’s challenges to still achieve the goal . You might lose people. You might be tested. You might make mistakes. You might even be mocked. But God won’t allow you to lose something that He won’t replace with something better. So, Tune out the noise, seek the Creator, and don’t give up no matter what.

The road to success is very much non-linear but can also be rewarding because of your hard work and perseverance.

And Most importantly, having a faith system is what got me here to begin with. Tuning my ear to hear God. Every step I took after quitting my last job, I was divinely guided. Something that I once resisted because of all the changes and challenges it required. Nonetheless, it was the single most best decision I could have ever made.

Keep God first in all that you do!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Oh Absolutely! The Loc Mastery Academy wants to go on tour!
