Meet Jake Brechlin

We were lucky to catch up with Jake Brechlin recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jake, thank you so much for making time for us. We’ve always admired your ability to take risks and so maybe we can kick things off with a discussion around how you developed your ability to take and bear risk?

I developed my ability to take risk after my being forced to leave my last job before starting my own business. While at this job I had wanted to start my own personal training business but felt I did not have a solid business plan. There was a day in the middle of the month where my boss sat me down and said I was under-performing with sales and gave me three options. One was to make $10k before the end of the month when it was already the 15th of that month. The second was go part-time, which wasn’t really an option because the company did not allow that. The third was to put in my two weeks notice.

I chose to put in my notice because the other two options were not realistic. While I was nervous to take the risk to start my business without having a solid plan, I felt this was the sign I needed to take the risk and start my business, so in November of 2018 I made it happen!

This was the start of where I began taking risks in life. Through this risk filled experience, I learned so much about myself, business, and started developing a new confidence in myself. Shortly into this experience, I knew I wanted to continue being my own boss and that I did not want to work for someone.

It was this newfound confidence in myself that would lead to taking another risk and starting my second business in car detailing in August of 2019.

While I technically was learning business and trying to build both on the fly, I knew I had to continue taking risks and betting on myself, so I started to learn anything I could to make me stand out in both of my businesses by offering services that were outside of the basics.

Being a personal trainer I invested in myself to also be able to offer clients nutritional services, as well as many other health services, such as rehabbing injuries and restoring a client’s gut health. I wanted to be able to help clients with everything health and fitness related and be a one stop shop.

And with my detailing business I expanded from just doing basic interior and exterior detailing to now offering protective paint coatings and paint correction services as well.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

As I spoke before I currently am a health coach to clients in-person, as well as virtually through my brand Put In Work Fitness & Online Coaching. I also am a local Las Vegas mobile detailer through my brand Triple Platinum Detailing.

Growing up as a kid I always wanted to be a pro athlete, just like many other kids. During this time my grandpa owned his own business and as I got older I became interested in business. So in high school I decided to take a few classes focused on business, and one even had us come up with our own business, and create a detailed business plan. I loved this project so much and put so much time and effort into it which got me a fantastic grade, but what impacted me most about the project is that I got the feeling that one day I wanted to own my own business. As I went through high school and began college, wanting to own my own business was still in my mind but it seemed like a far reach.

I eventually went to college for sports management, which was basically a business degree just focused around sports. During this time I took many more business related courses and then eventually after graduating and moving to Las Vegas I finally made that dream come true, which is what makes my time being a business owner so special, since it wasn’t my dream as a kid, but getting older and experiencing more in life it became a dream that I was able to make come true for myself.

My brand Put In Work Fitness offers a full array of health and fitness related services such as: personal training, online / virtual coaching, nutriton coaching, physical therapy, analyzing of blood work, and newly specialize in gut health which I offer all together. I work with clients to help them achieve their fitness goals which include but are not limited too: weight loss, fat loss, muscle building, and internal health goals such as improving gut health or improving your cholesterol. I am a very result oriented coach so I hold my clients very accountable because I want each and every single client to achieve what they come to me for.

My latest service, which I started in order to be able to help and have more people achieve their health or fitness goals, is my online / virtual coaching. Through my very own fitness app, I am able to work with anyone in any state or country, they do not have to be located in Las Vegas. Through my app I will deliver everything to you just as I do my in-person clients, which includes: personalized workouts for how many days you can make it to the gym, a fully personalized nutrition plan that goes hand in hand with your very own goals, a calendar that notifies you everything you need to do each day, a video library of every exercise so you can learn how to do something if your unsure, as well as keeping track of stats specific to your goals, such as weight loss tracking, before & after photo database and a body measurement tracker.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three things that were most impactful in my journey was, self-confidence, investing in myself, and self-discipline.

The advice I would give to develop or improve on any of these is really to just believe in yourself and the path that you feel is right for you. If you have ideas that you want to bring to life, you have all the power to try and do so. Never let anyone persuade you from your own goals or dreams. If you stay focused and invest in what you want to bring to life, you can achieve it.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal client is someone in their 30’s to 40’s and who is extremely serious and ready to achieve their health and fitness goals. Someone who wants to invest in themselves and their own health to change their life.

Some characteristics that make for my ideal client are being coachable, ability to have self-discipline and are able to be consistent with the specifics that will help them achieve their goals.
