Meet Jake & Taylor Rhyne

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jake & Taylor Rhyne. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jake & Taylor, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
The joy flowers can bring someone. Each bouquet is unique and we do our best to make sure when someone receives them that it brightens their day in some way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My wife and I operate Rhyne Farms, we are a local flower farm that offers many different services. We start the seeds at our home and care for them until the weather warms up and allows us to transplant to our gardens. From there we are harvesting thousands of flowers from early spring until the first frost arrives. The best part about this job is seeing the excitement come over a customers face when they receive a fresh bouquet from us. Some of the services we provide include a roadside stand that customers can build their own bouquets, a subscription service where customers can have flowers delivered bi weekly for a half or full season, photography venue and this coming year a u pick garden.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Work ethic, don’t be easily discouraged and don’t be afraid to get dirty. The biggest thing is to not get discouraged. You will have failures, equipment and tools may break or certain flowers may just not grow good in your climate. It is at that time you adjust and not give up. Figuring out the best way for us to start seeds has been a learning curve that was not expected. Trying to keep the right temperatures, humidity, moisture in the soil and the right soil to give all our seeds the best shot at germination then staying healthy until they are able to be moved to the garden is something that has to be monitored multiple times a day. We have spent many hours reading and watching different youtube videos to learn new ways to do certain things that has helped in many ways.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
We are always looking for new people and businesses to work with. Anywhere or anything that flowers can be used for an event, office space or party we are happy to supply freshly cut flowers for you or your business. We can be emailed at rhyneflowerfarm@yahoo.com or we can be contacted on Facebook and Instagram @Rhyne Farms or our website rhynefarms.wordpress.com
