Meet Jalen Jones

We were lucky to catch up with Jalen Jones recently and have shared our conversation below.

Jalen, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

For me I do daily exercises that keep my brain flowing for example I like to take down notes if something comes to mind and I’m out and about enjoying the day that way I can go back over it later and figure out a way to make it into a joke on stage.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a stand up comedian from the east side of Indianapolis,Indiana.I started my journey back in 2015 as a dare to get on stage feel in love with it but at the time wasn’t taking it seriously. That was until the world stopped back in 2020 and I had time to think about life and comedy came right back into my world and I have been doing it consistently ever since.Lately I have also been learning about film and tv to become a better writer because that was always one of my weaknesses. So I took it upon myself to learn and became apart of a up and coming film company Half Brothers Film Company. Its kind of cool to be doing all these things you love at once because I get to truly express myself on all ends so on stage I can be myself and if I’m working on a script for a movie I can be a character and really get in my bag with my creativity to bring it to life as you all will see in 2026.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I would say being patient is a big skill to develop that a lot of people may look over and what I mean by that is even when you think you’re ready sometimes by default it’s just not your time just yet so you have to stay patient. Another good skill to have is confidence I say that because it will take you further being prepared and confident in whatever you are saying to the crowd in front of you in terms of comedy. I have always been outspoken and honest with my audience so they know what to expect but that comes with time and going to different environments to try out your joke. Lastly I would say master the ability to network with others and be a service to them a lot of times people are good on stage but horrible behind the scenes. Personally I have always been one of the cool kids per se so I know how to act in green rooms and when I am around some big names in the game.So I would tell anyone that starting out comedy to work on your stage presence stay true to yourself don’t steal nobody else’s material and if anything you do please don’t run the light even on your best days because people will remember things like that and it’s bad for business.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I would love to work with Mike Epps he is one of my favorite comedians in the game and we are from the same hometown so it’s only right we collaborate when the time is right. He has a hit show on Netflix right now called The Upshaws I can always see myself on the show even if it was a small role. Its also plenty of up and coming comedians I want to work with like navv greene or kevonstage, they are already apart of two elite groups of comedians to I like to watch but two totally different worlds. Oneday my time will come and will make the best of the opportunity once it presents itself.
