Meet Jalen Terry

We recently connected with Jalen Terry and have shared our conversation below.

Jalen, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
It didn’t happen overnight and i truly believe i have a long way to go. Its so easy especially nowadays to compare and feel unworthy in many areas of life. God honestly is the only reason why i have any confidence in the first place. I catch myself constantly comparing to others and feeling unworthy or not good enough to be where i am or around who i am around. I constantly have to remind myself God has given me purpose and a second chance to be a light and a shaker in this world.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a God fearing Creative Director, musical artist, and father. All three are incredible jobs and responsibilities God has blessed me with. I created and own Fambofilms LLC, where i create digital strategy and produce commercials, campaigns and visual assets for clients. I am also a musical artist under the name “JVLEN”. This is where i truly get to vent and decompress. I have a new song “Look in the mirror” dropping 9.8.23 so be sure to check that out. This song is about facing that person you see in the mirror and not letting them control who you present to the world. Own your past but create your future.

These creative outlets are truly a form of therapy for me that i hope others can enjoy. I want to be a tool for stories to be heard and told in creative ways.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Network is net worth Consistency and putting in HOURS in any craft is key, because there are always those who are cooking vibing and shaking things up in said industry.
Be a sponge, lose the ego and open your ears. Young cats to old heads can add value to your career.

These 3 areas have allowed me get to where i am and will continue taking me through my journey.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
I cant stress it enough, spiritual and physical health keeps you going. I personally need to work on this daily, there is never enough prayer, meditation, workouts that i can do that will “heal”. I am constantly at war with myself, stressing myself out, putting myself in stressful & difficult situations but knowing God is in my corner, making time for my physical health, i know that i will be able to overcome obstacles that face me.

If you feel stressed, overwhelmed, unsuccessful; first just breath, you doing alright. Know that nobody is perfect and you are more than capable to grow and better yourself. Step away, go on a walk, read the bible, talk to friends, get inspired and keep it pushing. Talk to someone, don’t be afraid to hit up a homie, vent and relieve stress.
