Meet Jalicia Carter

We were lucky to catch up with Jalicia Carter recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jalicia, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from my humble beginnings, growing up in a situation where I often had to fend for myself and figure things out with very little guidance. I’ve always had a mantra of “keep going, rise above.” That mentality was born from the fact that I’ve faced so many adversities early in life that deeply shaped who I am today. These experiences taught me that no matter how tough things get, I’ve been through worse and made it through to the other side.

There were moments where I didn’t know where to turn, had no one to count on, and the only option was to believe in myself. It’s that unwavering self-belief that has fueled my journey as a businesswoman. When I pull from the times where I had nothing—no safety net, no clear path forward—I remind myself that I’m capable of more than I ever imagined. I’m pushing myself to reach my highest potential because I know there’s always something bigger and better out there waiting, even when it’s not right in front of me.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

At A Woman’s Touch, I specialize in creating luxurious, lifestyle-driven spaces that resonate with my clients on both an emotional and aesthetic level. What excites me most about my work is how each project allows me to transform a space into something that tells a story—whether it’s a chic boutique hotel, a cozy speakeasy, or a serene winery. I love being part of that creative process, bringing warmth and a feminine touch to each design.

As the Founder, Visionary, and Design Liaison, I not only connect clients with exceptional designers but also take an active role in the design process myself. I bring my creativity and vision to every project, ensuring that each space feels personal, luxurious, and aligned with my clients’ unique styles. From high-end commercial projects like restaurants and boutique hotels to curated residential designs, my goal is to create spaces that inspire and elevate everyday life.

One of the most exciting things happening right now is our expansion into the Dallas market. While our headquarters is based in Austin and we’ve already completed projects in the Houston area, we’re actively looking to expand our footprint nationally and beyond. I’m thrilled about the potential of bringing A Woman’s Touch to new cities and clients who value luxury and creativity in their spaces.

Additionally, we’re launching new holiday design service packages that will transform homes and businesses for the festive season. We’re also continuing to grow our work with wineries, residential clients, and luxury hospitality venues across the country.

A Woman’s Touch is about more than just design; it’s about creating experiences that enhance the way we live and interact with our spaces. I’m excited about what’s to come as we continue to grow and share our vision with the world.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back on my journey, there are three qualities that I believe have been most impactful:

1. Resilience: Without a doubt, resilience has been crucial to my success. The ability to rise above challenges, no matter how tough, has carried me through times of uncertainty and difficulty. For anyone starting out, my advice is to embrace the setbacks as learning opportunities. Understand that every “no” is just leading you closer to the “yes” that will change everything. Building resilience takes time, but every challenge you face will strengthen that muscle.

2. Vision: Having a clear vision has been central to everything I’ve done. Knowing where you want to go, even when the path is unclear, helps you stay focused and driven. For those early in their journey, take time to define what success looks like for you. That vision will serve as your guide, helping you navigate the ups and downs. Don’t be afraid to evolve your vision as you grow, but always keep something to aspire to.

3. Self-Belief: Believing in myself—even when others didn’t—has been a major factor in pushing me forward. There were times when I had no roadmap and no one to turn to, and it was my faith in my own abilities that kept me going. For anyone starting out, self-belief is non-negotiable. Surround yourself with people who support your vision, but also learn to cultivate an inner belief that’s unshakeable, no matter what external voices say.

For those eager to start their own journeys, my advice is to focus on developing resilience by pushing through adversity, fine-tuning your vision for where you want to go, and nurturing a deep sense of self-belief that will carry you through tough times. These qualities have shaped me into the businesswoman I am today, and I believe they are key to long-term success.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes, I’m definitely looking for folks to partner and collaborate with as A Woman’s Touch continues to expand. While we are focused on creating luxurious, lifestyle-driven spaces, I’m also passionate about exploring projects across a wide range of industries and sectors. Design is universal, and whether it’s high-end residential, boutique hotels, or more community-focused projects like nonprofits, hospitals, or small businesses, I believe that every space deserves to be both functional and beautifully designed.

I’m excited to collaborate with individuals and organizations who share a creative vision and are open to pushing boundaries, whether it’s luxury spaces or more accessible projects. I’m particularly interested in branching out into areas like healthcare facilities, educational spaces, and small businesses, alongside our ongoing work in hospitality and residential design. A Woman’s Touch is about creating environments that uplift and inspire, regardless of the setting.

If you’re reading this and feel aligned with the work we’re doing, I’d love to explore how we can work together.
